First Birthday Party Questions

1- Do you invite friends that have no kids and/or that are not married?

2- Do you have any form of entertainment? After all, one year olds are kind of limited and won't remember "characters" at their party.

3- If you celebrate at a restaurant, can a 1 year old have anything to eat besides baby food?

Yes we invited my friends who don't have kids and are not married. The party is more for the adults anyway

We had DS party at my parents house. We did not have any entertainment. The kids who ranged in age from 18 months to 8 just played in the basement or hung out with the adults and each other

Yeah I have given DS chicken and pasta from restaurants as well as bread and soft vegetables

4- Can a 12 month old have birthday cake?

Ds had a piece. He had more fun digging into it than actually eating it. He took a few bites of it. Just make sure DC has had the things they use in the cake-ie flour, eggs, etc.

5- How long should the party be?

We started it at 2 and most people left by 6 but we didnt have an end time. Some people stayed til 8 or so, but we also had it at a house so we didn;t have to have an end. I would say about 3 or 4 hours should be long enough

We will have entertainment- even though DS won't remember all of it there will be about 12 other kids who will need to be entertained

My ds is 10 months and is on only table foods so yes. He'll eat anything/everything. It's going to be italian so he'll be able to enjoy most of the food

4- Can a 12 month old have birthday cake?

Yes. Why not? Some people don't give their DC chocolate until a year but never heard of no cake. I've given DS everything already though- I'm very lax. Depends on your comfort. He just eats whatever we eat

5- How long should the party be?

I think 2-4 hours is ideal if it's at a restaurant

1. We had dS party at one of those kiddie places. I invited some close friends that had no children or that were not married. Most came:), even though I warned them that they may be bored because of the location.

2. We didnt need entertainment since the place itself was entertaining.

3. I don't see why not. For DS actual birthday we went to a restaurant, and I order regular food for him. My DS has been on table food since he was 8.5 months, so it depends on your child.

4. My DS had cake 3 x. Once for his cake smash shoot, on his actual birthday, and at his birthday party. He smashed them all and ate a decent amount.

5. I have been to parties that were 2 hrs long, 3 hrs and 4 hrs. IMO, 4 hrs is too long. I say 2-3 is perfect.

1. Yes, we invitation friends who doesn't have children. Most of our friends don't have children.

2. We had entertainment. We did have kids there and didn't want them to be bored. My twins loved the character and the entertainment we had.

3. The day of their birthday we let them eat whatever they wanted, which they were so distracted from everything going on they hardly ate they did drink alot of milk that day. I put puffs and gold fish at the kiddies tables, plus we ordered chicken fingers and fries for the kids.

4. Yes, they both ate their cake and cupcakes

5. 2 hours If no entertainment 4 hrs, if you have entertainment.

Yes - we're only having about 4 kids, but thats just bc none of our friends have had any yet - so its just our familys children.

No entertainment. Im not big on over the top things for babies. If youre having a lot of kids i think its okay.

DS is 9 months and he only eats table food sometimes, he just does better w/ baby food still. Im thinking by then he'll just be on table foods though. I would just see how your baby is doing with the food they will be serving before the party.

I'll be giving DS chocolate for the first time at his party. He has had cake before though.

We booked ours for 3 hours

I did invite some of my closer friends without kids but it was mostly family and friends with kids!

Yes we had entertainment bec - we had about 30 kids all older than the birthday girl! We used Little People Entertainment and they were fantastic!

My DD was eating all table foods that we were eating so she ate a little bit of everything there was there!

My kids first taste of cake and ice cream was on their birthday - and they all LOVED it!!!!!! (not for any other reason that it was a tradition for me with my 3 kids to see their reaction to how it tasted on their special day...but after that it was no holds bar!! haha)

Our parties were about 4 hrs!

1) Yes we invited our friends regardless of marital/child status.

2) We didnt have any entertainment. It was in our back yard and there were only a few kids over the age of 1. They went in the pool. There were 4, 1 year olds. 2 of them being the twins. They were all passed around or played in a play pen together.

3) My twins were eating table food by the time they were 1.

4) same answer as 3

5) Since the party was at our house we made it endless. We started the party when we knew they would be napping, so that when most people were really there they would be happy twins instead of cranky twins. They took another nap with people there and we put them to bed before everyone left.

We just had my daughter's 1st birthday party this past Sunday and it was great!

1- We invited immediate family and friends whether they were married, had kids or not.

2- The theme of my daughter's party was Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and we used Small World entertainment out in Medford that had a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse puppet show with all the characters and music from the tv show. My daughter started to get a little tired and that point and just wanted to be held but couldn't stop watching the show and all the other kids of various ages, LOVED it!

3- We had the party catered and made sure to have chicken fingers and mac n cheese for the kids which my daughter had some of.

4- We got a her a small smash cake which she ate some of but mostly had fun destroying lol

5- Our party was 1-5pm. Looking back I might of made it a little earlier because my daughter was def ready for a nap more than half way through but once she had some sugar from the cake she was fine lol and passed out in the car right after it was over.

We have a TON of kids in our family, I need to have entertainment or they'll destroy things. So we'll have a magician/clown combo package.

3- If you celebrate at a restaurant, can a 1 year old have anything to eat besides baby food?

Yes, but if she can only eat baby food, I'll bring it.

4- Can a 12 month old have birthday cake?

Yes, but I don't plan on giving her any.

Ours will be 4 hours.
