No more bottle=no more milk

So, DS is 15 months and I took him off the bottle. Yes, I know some of you cannot believe I waited so long, while others are saying, why so soon. I still cannot get over how many mixed reactions I get to taking him off the bottle.

Anyway, we did this on the weekend, and now his milk intake has dropped drastically! He barely drinks anymore, and now I feel like I am doing a disservice to him. Any advice will be greatly apprciated!!

My DD's milk intake definitely dropped when we stopped bottles (also around 15 months), but as long as she is having yogurt, cheese and other forms of calcium, her pediatrician isn't concerned. She probably has 10-12 oz of milk most days. I wouldn't worry too much as long as you provide those other ways for him to get his calcium in. HTH!

I switched DD off the bottles at 12 months when we also switched to milk. Her intake went down for a week or two, but once she got used to it she was fine. She loves milk now and would literally drink it all day long. Give him a little time to get used to no bottle.

Dd stopped drinking milk when we took her bottle away at 13 months. Her ped isnt concerned at all because she eats dairy such as cheese and yogurt. One slice of cheese is the equivalent to 6 oz of milk. She willl drinkva little almond milk now which has a ton of calcium.

DS was off bottles (and milk, by proxy) when he came down with a double ear infection at 21 months and the ped said no milk with the antibiotics. It was great to finally be done with bottles, but he refused to drink anything but water after that. It took many, many months... but we finally, at 29 months, got him to drink chocolate or strawberry milk and sometimes juice. He still prefers water though, and drinks it all day long.

We weren't too worried about him not having any milk because he eats yogurt and cheese pretty much daily. And he still has oatmeal a couple of times a week, which we make with milk. His ped said it was fine.

I think 15 months is a perfect time to stop with the bottles. Yes, their intake drops, but I continued with a sippy cup of milk in the morning and warm milk at night until DS was about 3-4 years old.

Any tips on how you did this? DD is 15 months too, I've been trying to give her milk in a sippy and she refuses it. I know I am going to have an issue with the night bottle since she needs it to sleep. Honestly, I wish I would have took it away at 12 months before she was attached to it.

I am in the minority but I did not take away the bottle he let go of it on his own at 2 years old.

We just got rid of the bottle two months ago and DS just turned 3 over the weekend. We fifer him milk throughout the day, he drinks a little here and there. And he still does like a cup of milk before bed. He certainly drinks less, but he loves cheese and he will take milk in his cereal.

Once my DD dropped her milk consumption went waaaaaay down but I didn't really care because she was having three full meals a day, she didn't need that much milk anymore. She basically drank milk as she was thirsty throughout her meals as opposed to guzzling bottles of it throughout the day.

We went cold turkey with ALL bottles around 16-17 months.

My DD is 14 months, and the ped recommended switching, but I fear the same thing since she much prefers the bottle....

I am sure this has been addressed, but WHY is it important to switch them? I honestly am not sure.

My girls finally got off the bottle at 19 months and that was because we had a terrible virus in the house and everyone was vomiting. I figured might as well take advantage. That was last time they drank milk. They just will not drink it. I tried strawberry and chocolate milk but they just don't like it. Every so often I can get them to drink some out of a regular cup with a straw but for the most part they are just eating cheese and yogurt.

We switched to the Nuk sippy, he still calls it baba and drinks tons of milk still maybe try that?

Give him a few days/week his intake may increase.
The same thing happened with my twins. The ped said not to worry, just to increase yogurt and cheese products. Within a week or so they started drinking more.
