sorry to bring this up again-giving yourself injections
I just need some encouragement. I am terrified of needles and have to find the courage to give myself the injections. DH gets home too late at night to do it for me, and there is nobody else that I can ask. I can't even look at tv when someone is getting a needle. I didn't even get the flu shot because I was scared of needles. I "assumed" when I met with the RE that he was going to put me on a pill and when he said NO, its injectables, I nearly passed out. I'm probably going to be starting them on Friday night...but i'm really really nervous

Can you hire a nurse to come to your house? I know it may sound expensive but the last thing you need to be right now is stressed. Good luck and all the best! I'm sorry you feel this way

Maybe you could do the first injection or a practice injection at your RE with a nurse?

Re: sorry to bring this up again-giving yourself injections
Aside from the IM injections the rest are fairly simple injections and you won't even feel it. It takes longer to pinch your skin than it does to inject too. But, I do understand the anxiety behind it. I've done 6 IVF cycles and did all my injects myself too. Sometimes I'd sit there for 10 minutes with the PIO in the syringe before I did it. However after I did it, I felt like I conquered the world. Ask the nurse for help, watch some videos and take deep breaths. YOu'll get the hang of it.

I don't know how true this is (I've never done injectables), but I read online that if you can get through getting your blood taken, then you can get through the injecting. I guess it's along the same lines pain wise (just a pinch). I hope it goes easy for you

For me, getting the bloodwork was way worse. I hardly feel the needle with the Follistim pen, soooooo tiny

do you have any family or friends who'd are close by and would be willing to do it for you? That's the easiest way to go IMO

Re: sorry to bring this up again-giving yourself injections
thank you girls. I think its just the thought of having to do it myself that freaks me out. I tried watching some videos and I had to turn my head away. DH won't be home until after 11:30 pm at night and the dr wants me to do it between 5-9 pm. I know that after I do it the first time, I will feel a little better and I want to be brave and be able to do it on my own.
I'm going to be using the Gonal pen.

My sister did the first one, and it wasn't bad, so I do all my own now. The key is not looking when you do it! Getting blood drawn is worse.

Aww I totally feel you. Any type of needles freaks me out. When I had to go in for my CD 3 BW I nearly passed out since they couldn't find my veins. I am nervous if I ever have to do injectibles. We are going to start with clomid but I know there will be one trigger shot and that makes me nervous. I think after the first one you do, you will be okay. Its all for a good reason! Good luck!
