Toddler cups
My dd is 14 months and she will really only drink milk from her bottles and water from a regular cup if I am holding it. I can't let her hold the regular cup on her own because the water goes everywhere. She will take a couple of small sips here and there from her Dr. Brown sippy but not even an ounce throughout the day.
I have tried a couple of sippy cups, straw cups, and even a sippy that looks like a real cup but you still have to suck on it. I was hoping someone had a specific recommendation.
Also, usually how old are children when you can give them a cup and they do not spill it everywhere?
Thanks

Re: Toddler cups
I would love to know this too. I'm having the same issue with my 16 month old twins.

Re: Toddler cups
Did you try to Tupperware cups? This are basically cups with sippy tops but you don't have to suck on them the liquid just flows out. The are called Tupperware Bell Tumbler's with sipster tops so that the juice doesn't go all over the floor.
I also got these from amazon. My DS likes them just as much and they are much cheaper. Only thing is that they aren't spill proof

Re: Toddler cups
We started our twins on straw cups at about 6 months as per our pediatricians recommendation. Granted, they had no idea what to do with them for about 1 month or 2, and even now we still can make a huge mess. But honestly it just took time and practice for them.
We have three different types, the disposable drink and toss (or whatever they are called), born free, and then playtex. The playtex ones get water in the hollow chamber if put through the dishwasher and have a fatter straw part which is good for chewing on apparently. The disposable ones (which can be endlessly used it seems), are leaky and have rigid straws but are good to throw in a diaper bag or something. And lastly the Born Free ones which I prefer. Not leaky, thinner straw , and slightly squishy body which made it a bit easier for them to use in the beginning because I could push on the bottle and have the water come up the spout.

Re: Toddler cups
I tried all the cups around the same age with ds. Nothing worked. I allowed him to use the bottles till he was 2. After his 2nd birthday I told him that mommy had to give them all to the babies now. He never looked back. I just dont think he was ready before that.

For DS 1 we had the best luck with Nuby cups. We started with the soft spout and then moved onto the straw.
DS 2 will drink out of any sippy cup he finds in the house (DS 1 still uses them to minimize spills and leaves them within his brothers reach).

The Zoli cup has worked great for us - I highly recommend it specifically b/c its lightweight and there's a patented technology at the bottom of the straw that always takes the straw to where the liquid is -- it'll make more sense when you see it :) Good Luck!
