toddler straw cups - cleaning quetsion
Hi - we have a bunch of straw cups, the ones with the 2 piece straws - the rubbery top part and the hard plastic bottom pieces.
I'm having problems cleaning these and some look moldy! I have not been using them since i have has this problem, obviously....but I like them.
Does anyone have good tricks to clean these types of straws?
Or if I can order the straw pieces in bulk and just trash them! haha
TIA

I was just cleaning DS's straw cup this morning and thinking I was the only one this happened to! I wind up using a toothpick to really get inside and clean out the gross parts. why does this happen??

I put the cups and lids in the dishwasher and clean the straws by hand. I pull them apart so each straw becomes two parts and use hot soapy water and the brushes designed to clean the straws. I then let them air dry on a drying mat on the counter. No problems since I started doing it this way. You can buy replacements, but I haven't seen them in bulk.

great, thanks - didn't realize they made special brushes! BBB and BRU really will sell you anything! jk, gotta love them.
The toothpick idea is good too!
I used to blow into the rubbery plastic parts to clear out the water because it gets held up in there, sanitary!

I use those tiny brushes that are supposed to be used on the dr brown bottles. They are sold separately. I think a pipe cleaner would work too.

Munchkin makes the straw brushes!!! They're a bit bigger and cheaper then the Dr browns ones. When DS is done with a cup I take it apart and fill it with water. i soak the straws in the cup until I am ready to wash. Then I do so with hot soapy water and the little brushes.
