does not have separation anxiety

baby just turned 13 months (12 months adjusted) he has always been close to grandpa. we live in 2 family. baby in day care 2 days and with grandparents (same house) 3 days. I am home by 530 and on weekends.
baby does cry when he cant get into grandmas side or leaving grandpa especially to come 'home' to me. he may cry if i go through a baby gait without him. but i don't think its separation anxiety - its more he wants to go where he wants to go - and do what he wants to do. although it may be sep. anxiety with grandpa.

he is fine when i drop him off at day care (and its a new one) and he hardly wants to go home when i get him, fights putting on coat. but if i bring grandpa to get him he is eager to leave.

is it normal to have no separation anxiety or do so for a non-parent?

will he ever know im his mother?

YES! Pat yourself on the back. You have a very social child. My DS is so friggin close to me it's silly. Yet he never went through separation anxiety. He always went to everyone and was the life of parties.

My DS is almost 13 months and has ZERO separation anxiety. He is with me or DH all the time but if I drop him off with my Parents he literally runs into their arms. He will go to anyone anytime. I can yell GOODBYE as I leave my Parents house and he giggles and ignores me...I wonder if I will ever have the kid that cries when I leave :)

My DS only started having sa at almost 2 yrs. I worked ft and he was with my aunt a few days, mom another and mil another. I actually used to feel really bad about it! Now he gets upset when one of us leaves and I think he would have major trouble if we dropped him off. Enjoy it! Leaving a screaming child is awful and coming home to him desperate to see you would bring lots of guilt too. I would say he's a well adjusted and easily adaptable child!

they go through stages, i have twins, sometimes one wants only me and the other daddy, sometimes its the other way around, sometimes they only want grandma or pa and then they could care less,
if they are not crying when you leave its a good thing, enjoy it, when my girls are going through the stage of tantrums and screaming when i leave i absolutely hate it, thats is when i feel guilty and miserable, when i leave and they just wave or say bye mama, i love it, i know they are with people i trust and they are happy and comfortable
