Never had heartburn till after giving birth..?

I was never a person who got heartburn, not even during my pregnancy. The girls in my office would laugh at how I was able to load the hot sauce on anything I ate while I was pregnant. Ever since giving birth I get heartburn all the time. I used to have a glass of OJ every morning and now when I have even a little I am in so much pain after. Did this happen to anyone else? I am wondering if I should bring it up to my dr.

Could it be your gallbladder?

Never had heartburn till after giving birth..?

Its funny that you say that. I was thinking the same thing, only because my Step father is having attacks from that and having his taken out soon so I have been reading up on it. I have tried to stop myself from thinking it b/c it would just be way too ironic. I've had other symptoms too which makes me nervous. Maybe I should just talk to the dr to be on the safe side.

What are your other symtpoms?
Gallbladder attacks are SOOO common in pregancy and after. Pregnancy slows down your digestion and that is how gallstones form.
I never had heartburn as a symptom, but I had some pretty bad attacks with severe pain right below my right rib cage. They were brough on be eating something greasy or fatty..

It does happen for a few months after pregnancy.
Eat tums consistently. Put books under the front posts of your bed. Avoid orange juice, soda, and coffee.
If the pain goes away, you are fine.
Gallbladder pain will occur when you eat something fatty.

I didn't know that they were common during and after pregnancy. I have what feels like heartburn, below my rib cage and nothing helps. I have been eating extra strength tums and they do nothing. When this happens I also get very bloated/gassy and a few other symptoms, without being TMI. I am going to the dr today b/c I just can't take it anymore, I have been in awful pain since 7AM.

Yes definitely go.
When I had my gallbladder out at 5 weeks PP the nurses there told me it was SOOOO common to see when who had just given birth in with gallbladder issues.
Like I said, the pregnancy slows down digetstion and causes stones.
They did a sono on my gallbladder and found stones...that was the cause of my pain.
Good luck!

Did you have to have it removed or did the problem just go away on it's own?
