How long till you receive birth certificate and SS number?
DD will be a month on Saturday and we still haven't received it

I had to go pick up my BC at town hall (I was in NJ though). It was 5-6 weeks.
For the SS card, Tilde posted a great chart for me, I'll see if I can find it - I think it's 2-3 weeks on average if filed by the hospital in NY. I didn't get mine for 2 1/2 months because they forgot to file it when DS was born.
If you have any questions, you can call SS and the hospital and they will figure it out. It's a lot easier to do it through the hospital than on your own because you need 2 forms of ID for DC...

For SS card, I received it 2 weeks after birth.
For birth certificated, about six weeks after birth.

with DD, it took almost 4 months for the birth certificate, the SS came a little sooner..it was crazy - they were so backed up..
with DS - less then 3 weeks

We got DD birth certificate about 2 weeks after she was born and her SS card came 3 days after that.
I think it all depends on how long it takes the hospital to send the information.
