Btdt moms- vbac or c-section
I have time to decide but just wondering what others did and maybe why. My first c-section was after 50+ hours of labor and it was an emergency. I was told I have the choice this time, but I got a letter the other day saying my doctor requested it and it was deemed medically necessary ( I'm going for my next appointment next week so ill find out what that's abut then). Any thoughts?

Btdt moms- vbac or c-section
If you got the letter from your insurance co it's just something automatic the office does...same thing happened to me at the beginning of the pregnancy. Does NOT mean you have to do a repeat C/S. I had a C/S with DS#1 because he was breech with cord around the neck. I went back and forth for this and decided to do a repeat C since DH was concerned about the complications of VBAC...since he doesn't usually have much of an opinion on pregnancy things i took that into a large consideration. My doc was pro VBAC and left it up to me. They did say that I would not have the choice of induction and if I went one week past my EDD that I would have a C/S anyway. And if i did go into labor, no pitocin etc to help with progression. These are what helped me make the decision...going in for my repeat on 2/5 Good Luck and go over your options with your doc but don't let them pressure you into making a decision

There are a lot of variables here that can help you make a decision. What caused your labor to be so long? Were there any complications with the pregnancy? What about this one? How many cm dilated were you before the surgery? What was the ultimate reason for your section?
I went for the vbac and thought it was an amazing experience. Ask me anything!

Re: Btdt moms- vbac or c-section
I had a c-section with my first, 36 hrs after my water broke and 15 hours in labor, i didn't dialate past 3cm. So I am going with a scheduled c-section for my 2nd. Mostly because of the fear of the unknown and also, recovery is supposed to be so much easier with planned then emergency.

Re: Btdt moms- vbac or c-section
They were concerned with my DD's size so I had a scheduled C-section, although, my water did break on its own a few hours before. I still had the C-section but I contracted pretty good up until my surgery.
Since I didn't labor and it has been 4.5 yrs since my C-section I would like to try for a VBAC. I really do not want surgery again, I would love to deliver on my own.
That's the plan, guess we will see how it goes. 7 weeks and counting.

Re: Btdt moms- vbac or c-section
My first pregnancy was a twin pregnancy. I had pre-eclampsia and had a semi emergency c section. I had to be put under general anesthesia and missed out on everything. I developed fevers from the anesthesia and couldn't see my babies in the NICU until they were 3 days old.
Since I missed out on so much the first time, I am really hoping that I can have a VBAC this time. My dr won't let me go past my due date so I have a c section scheduled at 40 weeks but I am really hoping I go before then!

No complications but I do have a clotting disorder ( it has nothing todo with needing a c-section though)
Don't really know why I labored so long, I guess because I was dilating so slowly. I was at 1 cm for almost that whole time. Once they gave me the pitocin, the baby's heart rate dropped, they got it up and then it dropped REALLY low again. I was put in for an emergency cSection and the baby ended u having the cord around her neck a few times. How wastherecoveryafterthevbac?

Re: Btdt moms- vbac or c-section
I was induced at 36 weeks 5 days bc of pregnancy induced hypertension. I did not dilate past 5 cm after laboring for 20 hrs. Ob did not use cervadil (bc of hx of childhood asthma) but instead some balloon and I really think that had a lot to do with why I didn't go past 5 cm. Ultimately had a c-section. DS' hand was next to his face and they said he would not have come down anyway. I had a traumatic labor/delivery due to complications, including a bad experience with the epi where my BP went down and I thought I was literally dying. Saw my DS initially in the OR but did not see him again for 16 hours. I was kept in labor/delivery for observation whereas he went to the nursery. It was a horrible experience I do not want to repeat.
Fully intend to go VBAC. OB said I am a candidate as long as no medical issues come up.

Re: Btdt moms- vbac or c-section
I had a VBAC with #2, but that's because I didn't have any issues or complications with #1 - he was breech and I didn't really have a choice.
A lot of times, the type of labor you had with your first and the reason you ended up with a c/s will be a big issue in determining if you are a good candidate to vbac.
Good Luck!

I'm a candidate for vbac but just nervous about it. I had a somewhat easy recovery from the cSection. How would you compare the recoveries if you experienced both?
