a few newborn questions - its been a while

we just came home with DD today, she was born monday Chat Icon

remind me - is it normal for them to poop like every hour to two? I feel like I am changing a diaper before AND after every bottle.

also, how much and how often do newborns typically eat? Seems we are averaging 1.5-2oz every 2-3 hours?

tonight she seemed to want to eat every 2 hours and was taking almost 2 full oz. I feel like I am overfeeding her (i know, you can't really overfeed a NB).

DS was born on New Year's Day and I still change him before and after he eats. When we came home from the hospital DS was eating 2 oz but very soon after starting eating 3 oz. He is now eating 3-4 oz every 3-4 hours.

Totally normal. If we didn't change before and after each bottle we'd have to change all DDs clothes! Chat Icon I think DD was taking close to 2 ozs every 2-3 hours before we left the hospital. She was a good eater. By one maybe 2 weeks she was consistently taking 3 sometimes 4 ozs! Eventually she settle at 3ozs every 3 hours for awhile.

Sounds about right Chat Icon poop, eat, poop, sleep, poop, eat, etc...

I think Brielle was doing 1.5-2 every 3-3.5 when she came home, but she was little.

Even now, our ped says to feed them when they want during the day and just dont wake if they dont want to eat at night. They are pretty much on a schedule now though.

ditto what everyone else said.

DS was eating 2-3oz per feeding in the beginning, i believe. And yes, pooping every hour. It gets better soon Chat Icon By 1 month, we were only changing poopy diapers after each feeding, around 2 months he started pooping only once per day.

As for eating every 2 hours yesterday, she may be going through a growth spurt ... it'll get better in a day or two Chat Icon

thank you all! after the 230 feeding, she slept until almost 8am!!! she is currently content in her bouncer. I guess it was just a cluster feed and I know to expect that. amazing how quickly you forget literally everything. Chat Icon

Yes its normal for them to poop that often. DD would poop after every feeding and she was BF and liked to snack so she would eat every hour or so.

I think it's the only way I'd go through the newborn stage again... complete amnesia!
