Recovery from csection
Yesterday was 4 weeks from my csection. I have been to the doctor three times and each time he says its healing wonderfully. I have told him each time that I still have pain..(obviously at my 1 week and even 2 week, i expected this but then at 3 weeks, i expected a little less pain that i still had) he keeps saying normal. now its been 4 weeks like i said and i can walk fine and do everything but there still a significant amount of pain for what i thought it would be at 4 weeks...sometimes more than others (and not just at the incision location but inside, like i guess my uterus healing from the incision that was made to it). the best i could describe the pain is soreness.
so, my question, when did the pain pretty much fade for you ladies who had a csection and you felt almost 100% while doing anything, especially things that put a little strain like stretching to get something, sleeping on your stomach, excercising, sex, etc.

thank you for responding and thanks for the advice- i guess although i personally know that, some people talk about csection like its so easy so somewhere in my mind i have this nagging feeling like as if i am behind, recovery wise.
also, its not like i ever for one moment relaxed after the surgery- i pushed myself in the hospital because i heard its better for recovery if you get up and walk as much as you can, as soon as they say its okay and then it was just me and dh with no help whatsoever so i hit the ground running with a newborn from the moment i got home (i believe that was good advice but at the same time, that would have been my one and only time to relax a little from surgery and i didnt at all

Re: Recovery from csection
I had a really difficult recovery after my first c-section and probably didn't feel like myself until 6 weeks (when I went back to work).
My second one was MUCH better and I felt like myself in just about a week!!!

Recovery from csection
I'm sure it's different for each individual, but I didn't start to feel like myself again until about 6 weeks. I had a difficult recovery. You'll get there, it takes a while, was my first c-section. Just as a side note, my cousin felt much better 3 weeks after her C Section and hers was a planned c section at 35 weeks. Mine was an emergency C Section after 28 hours of labor at 40 weeks. I'm starting to think maybe a planned and emergency have different recoveries. I'm not sure about this though, I'm just speculating.

Recovery from csection
I think I had a pretty easy recovery, but there are still days I have a little pain (I'm 9.5 weeks PP). I still can't do everything I used to (when I work out it hurts to jump up and down, etc). But I would say by about 6 weeks PP I was pretty much back to normal. It's just some random pain here and there. And that whole area is still numb.

Re: Recovery from csection
thanks everyone! this was a planned csection btw.
but you guys made me feel better, knowing that it truly is not consistent from person to person but around 6-8 weeks is a totally normal timeframe for feeling better and 4 weeks is still early.
on a side note- any good responses you guys have come up with for people who feel the need to tell you how easy you had it and basically know nothing about pain or anything like that since you didnt actually push the baby out? (of course, coming from people who never had a csection)
and dont get me wrong, i dont pretend to know what pushing a baby is like but i do know that a csection does not mean that we got a free pass .

Recovery from csection
i had a really horrible emergency c-section with other complications. it took months to feel normal again.
IMO let go of how you "think" you should feel. some people heal quicker than others and every c-section and every person is different. there are no standards. i was still taking 3 advil every 3 hours at my 6w post partum appointment. it is what it is, don't push yourself, it will only make it worse. give it time. theres a reason why short term disability gives 8 weeks for a c-section. its not so you can feel absolutely great for 4 weeks before they stop paying you and its certainly not time to bond with your baby (gd forbid the government helped out a littler there ). anywho hope you feel better soon!

Re: Recovery from csection
I had two c sections. I still felt pain and soreness for the first six weeks. But it became less frequent as time went on. It seemed to flare up on days that I was more active.
As for the people that make statements about how you gave birth: they are nuts. Women go through physical pain regardless of how you give birth! The pain of major abdominal surgery and the subsequent recovery is tough!!
Like my son's pediatrician says: when your child fills out their college application someday, there will be no boxes to check that indicate whether they were born vaginally or via c section, or if they were nursed of FF!

Re: Recovery from csection
First section - Not planned. I was in a lot of pain in the hospital but I did stairs at home from day 1 as doctor said I could. It was hard to sleep for a few days at home and very uncomfortable but by 2 weeks I was feeling good and the pain would flare up if I was doing too much. I think I felt almost 100% after 6 weeks but by 2-3 weeks I would have gone shopping, to restaurants if I could!
2nd section - Planned. Recovery was SO MUCH better!
Feel better!

Re: Recovery from csection
I had significant pain for a good 3 months. I still feel it once and a while 17 mo pp. It was an emergency section though, they wouldn't even let DH in the OR.

Re: Recovery from csection
Mine was also 4 weeks ago, but it was unplanned so I went through labor. I'm still in pain, but not bad enough to take anything for it. I mostly feel soreness around the incision and some pulling sensations both internally and on the skin.

Recovery from csection
My first was unplanned and second planned. I think i was about the same for both. Feeling pretty well by 2 weeks. It varies so much from person to person. I worked right up to the end of both preg doing physical work. I really think that helped me heal quicker. Feel better soon!!

Re: Recovery from csection
3 mo later and I still get uterus pain. Mostly when i get up at night from laying in my back. While pregnant I'd get the same pain like my uterus was being compressed.

Recovery from csection
I am 2 + months post delivery and I am in pain every day. I feel like I am in the middle of a crowded room screaming, and no one hears me. All the Dr. and everyone keeps saying is, "you had major surgery". Yeah, AND? So many people have been through the same surgery w/out the major pain for this long. There are days when I have trouble going down the stairs, and when the weather is bad..... Nevermind the numbness and tingling. that doesn't bother me, but I have pain in my uterus and above my incision.
thank you for posting your thoughts. I no longer feel alone.

Ditto, only I'm almost 8 months pp.
If I bend funny or my jeans cut into me, I get a shooting pain.
