Mine is 1 mil (that is, if something happens to me, this is what DH would collect).

Re: Question for SAHM or PTWM
I'm a FTWM and have an outside life insurance policy. My husband and I both got one when we were pregnant with our first. It's like 350000 and we pay under $35/month.

Re: Question for SAHM or PTWM
SAHM now, and I do, but I got it while I was working. It's 500K and is a 30 year term policy.

Re: Question for SAHM or PTWM
I want to have one , but because of my blood diorder our monthly payment would be too high. We haven't gotten anymore quotes in about 2 years, but my blood disorder has gotten worse so I doubt it would be cheaper

Re: Question for SAHM or PTWM
Not yet but later this year we're going to get a Universal Life policy for me. We got a UL policy for DH just a few months ago to ensure we had enough coverage aside from what he gets from his company. We'll get a smaller policy for me this year in case god forbid something ever happens, DH will have some extra money to make sure the kids have day care and anything else necessary.
We liked the UL policy because it builds a cash reserve, earns about 6% interest, and you're able to take out the money from that savings whenever you want. It ends up only being a few hundred dollars a year for a $500K policy when you take into account the savings portion of it. The premiums never go up and the amount of insurance coverage never goes down. It was recommended to us by our financial advisor over a term policy.
