NB moms are you going outside at all?
DS will be 3 weeks Monday. We've been in the house since his birth with the exception of 2 dr appointments and a trip to a breastfeeding support group. I would really like to go to BRU today. As long as i keep the baby in the carseat covered we should be ok right? I am EBF so i'm afraid if i leave him home and get stuck in the store he'll be home starving.
We would go straight to BRU and back.

DD is 13 months old, but was born around this time last year. I didn't breastfeed, but I took her out at about 2 weeks, as soon as I felt up for it. Even being FF, she didn't get sick from being out. She only started getting sick when she was mobile and touching stuff. I think it'd be great for both you and your DS to get out a bit!

I took my girls out early and kept them covered. It should be fine for a quick trip. Just bring hand sanitizer or wipes just in case.

I would try to stick to weekdays to go to a store. I was in BRU last Saturday and it was a zoo! DD is 8 months and I still prefer to avoid the stores on weekends so it's not so crowded. Even to avoid germs for yourself as much as DC.

DS is 7 weeks. Took him out to the store during the week and decided after hearing a lady say how she had the flu and felt horrible that I will keep him indoors until he gets his shots or at least unless necessary. The flu is everywhere!!! I am not going to risk having him get sick.

DS is 11 days old and we have only been to the doctor. They said since the flu is so bad this year to not take him until he is 2 months old. They said going for walks are fine but avoid the stores.

Re: NB moms are you going outside at all?
DD is 2 weeks old. We ran to the grocery store earlier this week, we walked there, picked up a handful of items and walked home. The weather was warm this week, we went for a quick walk almost every day.
My ped said not to worry about the shots - you can't catch polio or hep from casual contact anyway.
The flu is something I worry about but I can't stay in the house or I will go crazy.
I am planning on doing some errands, running into stores in the next 2 weeks. I will just keep DD in the car seat with a cover over it so people aren't breathing on her/touching her.
Your real risk for flu is visitors who are handling her, kissing her, etc.
IMO, the risk is very low just walking through a store that isn't too crowded (like in the middle of the day during the week). I'm avoiding grocery stores, malls, etc on the weekends.

Just so you know- they can't get a flu shot until 6 months old. So any shots they are going to get before that will not protect against flu anyway. The early shots are for polio, dtap, hep, etc...

I did not take him to stores but took him outside for walks almost from birth. But he was born in late August. I do still walk him every day.

Can someone go with you and stay with baby in the car? Otherwise, I would not go.

Re: NB moms are you going outside at all?
I took my preemies to stores, but I would not let a single person approach us. I actually pushed a woman's hand away as she went to touch one of the twins. She was so taken back. I let her know that it is not ok to touch other peoples children. She thought I was over reacting based on her facial expression. I went into a preemie rant and she left us alone.

Yes. my son is 6 weeks old and we go out. I figure when he's in his infant seat, he's pretty well protected since we got a shower-cap style cover for it.

No we decided to only take him/her out for it's drs visits. We will wait till spring to go to public places with the baby. I'm too worried. With all these viruses going on right now it's not worth it to me
