Disney World
If you were going to Disney in a month and a half...when would you tell your kids? Just want to get different ideas. I don't want to do the wake up surprise, bc I think the one of the best parts of a vacation is the anticipation and excitement leading up to it.
Also, any cute ideas on how to tell them?

I found this on google so cute:
I got one of those huge foam boards (but a poster board would work just fine) and a package of markers. I wrote “You’re going to Disney World!!!” in big, bright letters. Then I cut it in about 20 puzzle pieces and hid them all over the house…taped to the bottom of the coffee table, in the linen closet, under the popsicles in the freezer, everywhere. Tad and Lily are like bloodhounds when they think there’s a surprise involved, so finding the pieces took all of about 10 minutes. After they gathered all the pieces, I video taped them arguing as they put the puzzle together, only to break into a full-on “happy dance” when they figured out what it said. We still watch it for great memories and a great laugh.

Re: Disney World
At about the 1.5 to 2 month mark, we told our kids, they were 3.5 and almost 2 at the time. In order for them not to ask us every day when we were going, I made this little chart with mickey ears and a number inside of it. Every day they would be able to take one day off of it and see how much closer we were getting to going. It worked really well for us and they learned numbers along the way.

You can do a modified version of that youtube video where you get a bag of stuff for the trip - disney shirts, coloring books, snacks, etc. and have them open them and ask where they should take that stuff. I love that little girl's reaction - so cute.
Then I would do the calendar thing so they don't ask you everyday when they are going - great idea!
I personally wouldn't tell them too far in advance - kids have a totally different concept of time, and while I understand you want them to enjoy the anticipation, a week to a kid is like a month to an adult!
