Newborn STTN at 3 weeks???

Hey ladies - did anyone have a newborn sleep long stretches of 7-8 hours such an early age of 2.5-3 weeks old???? I definitely will count my blessings but I am also a tad concerned. Basically she is very fussy and awake from 8/9pm till 2am - just crying, eating, screaming, eating, repeat. Sometimes she will calm down for a bit or nap for 10 min in my arms but generally she is awake for several hours and I nurse her a lot and then just hold her bc she will not ley me put her down. Then at 2am, she passes out and sleeps till 9:30-10am- I am having to wake her in the morning actually. She naps throughout the day and can do a long 5 hour nap but I usually wake her to eat. Anyway this has happened a few nights in a row. She was originally waking to eat at 7am but now goes through till 9-10am. Has anyone experienced this? I hope I am doing things right???

Ped did say I could let her go longer at night but this seems VERY long! I have a call in to ask what I should do. Also DD is back to her birth weight so that is good and she does get 8 feedings in a day if I count all the cluster feeds at night.

I always woke DD every 2 hours during the day (once she started gaining well I did 3 hours) for the first month. I never woke her at night and she would do 5-6 hour stretches easily. She would cluster feed from about 6pm until 11pm, sometimes later. As long as you're getting in at least 8 feedings and she's gaining weight then I would keep dong what you're doing. After the first month, I didn't wake her during the day either.

Ok thanks - your advice is def helpful.

Ped just called back and said to let her sleep as long as she wants during the night but wake to feed every 2-3 hrs during the day.

At 3 weeks is when my DS started STTN. He woke up every 2-3 hrs during the day to eat, then his last bottle would be at 10:30-11:00 and he'd sleep until 6:30-7:00. Now at 12 weeks he still eats every 3 hrs and his last bottle is around 9. He goes to bed and wakes up around 8. I go backs work next week so he'll go to bed around 9 and have his morning bottle around 6am.

Is this all true for FF babies as well? I try to go every 3 hours but she wakes every 3 hour during the night too.

OMG that's awesome! Count your blessings! I wish my girls would do this! They wake every 3 hrs like clockwork and cry in unison. I think once they start eating more they will sttn or for longer stretches.

I always fed on demand with both of my boys. They STTN (7-9 hours) at 3 and 5 weeks, respectively. Be happy and thankful and enjoy the opportunity for sleep!

you are so so lucky. He is FF and didn't do those stretches for about 12 weeks. As long as your baby is eating during the day, I am sure you are fine. I have heard of all these great sleepers who have slept through the night from early on. It's a blessing!

DD is going yo be 3 weeks old tomorrow and she sttn three times this week. I agree with everyone, count your blessings! Mu older dd didn't sttn till 18 months.

As long at they gaining weight, peeing and pooping and eating every 2to 3 hours during the day your are ok.

Newborn STTN at 3 weeks???

My DS never slept much but if he did I would let him sleep. If they are gaining weight then I never worried about them missing a feeding

i kept waking her up every 2 hours because the nurses told me too and i was paranoid. i kind of regret it. i feel like i was overfeeding her. she would have slept for sure if i didnt keep waking her up to force her to feed.
