CIO Question.for pacifier babies..
OK, this is the first time i've ever done CIO..so need some help...I've have only done it 3 nights so far. Currently i'm cheating and letting DD fall asleep in swing..then i transfer her. All three nights she has woken once..i've been going in to put the pacifier in her mouth and then i leave..I let her cry in between with the hope she'll fall asleep, but a few times have gone back in the to yet again put pacifier back in her mouth...Is that bad? Am i supposed to be doing that? DD is bad about not keeping pacifier in her mouth and she is still too young to put it in herself..HELP!

Re: CIO Question.for pacifier babies..
how old is she? we did CIO at 5.5 months with DS, we would put 4-5 pacis in the crib and let him find them. it worked by night 3.

i do the same thing..i think it is whatever you want to do and feel comfortable with..I just felt like I was ok with going in ... but I just refused to pick them up...eventually they learn to pick the paci up themselves...but before then...I would just help them ...

Re: CIO Question.for pacifier babies..
We did CIO with DD at 5.5 months. She had been using a paci up until that point, but when we did CIO we also took it away.
In my mind, I couldn't figure out how she was supposed to self soothe if she was relying on the paci, yet she couldn't reach it. She became a thumb sucker and is an amazing sleeper (knock on wood!). She is 16 months now.
If I had to do it again, I would do CIO in a heartbeat (even though it was by far, the HARDEST thing at the time). The one thing I would change though is how we did it. We weren't sure whether we were going to take the paci away, or whether we were going to do intervals or full blown CIO. So if I were you I would just pick a method and stick with it - consistency is key.
Good luck!
(ETA: I never had a problem with pacis, I would joke that she could have gone to college with it had she actually slept through the night with it. I also never had a problem with the idea of her sucking her thumb either. Not having to rely on pacis though is AMAZING. No running around the house looking for one and no having to stock up on 5 car pacis, 5 stroller pacis, etc.)/
