Crashing - how accurate are gender scans?
Sorry to crash... but i just heard two people today tell me that their gender scans at different weeks into pregnancy were wrong. what are the odds of two people in one day telling me the same thing!
I went to get an early gender determination at 17w3d and i was told it was a girl. they showed me the infamous 3 lines, although i couldn't see them very well.
At my Anatomy scan at 19w2d i was told that it was probably still a girl but they couldn't get a really clear shot. but that they didn't see a penis. so i guess that is reassuring.
How accurate can they be? I'm freaking out now thinking that they got our baby's gender wrong (sidenote, another poster on this board used the same gender determination place i went to, we had the same sono tech perform our scans, and hers was later confirmed to be wrong) I don't go back for the rest of my anatomy scan until Columbus Day and I pray they can give me a 100% that its a girl, because we had already told everyone and we already have a closet full of pink clothes!

I worried about the same thing. Having a girl themed shower, clothes, etc, always worried me what if they were wrong? But they weren't. They saw the 3 lines also, but it wasn't that clear.
Odds are they are right. But of course, you just never know. I wasn't sure in my mind until she was born.

Re: Crashing - how accurate are gender scans?
I had a sono at 16 weeks with my DD and was told definitely girl. I asked them to reconfirm at my 20 week and growth sono at 31 weeks and she was still a girl. I guess you can never be 100% sure, but from what the sono tech told me, if she gets the right "potty shot," she can pretty much tell you without the shadow of a doubt.
I would just sit tight until your next sono and hopefully they will get a clearer shot for you.

Re: Crashing - how accurate are gender scans?
I know how you feel. I am supposedly having one boy and one girl...The boy shot was clear as day..plus i had a genetic blood test that told me I was having at LEAST one boy. I think because I really was hoping the other twin was a girl, I just can't allow myself to believe it really is. My friend did the sono, and i know she would NOT steer me wrong, it is just in my head that I can't believe I will have a daughter...
Maybe at my gender ultrasound, if that person confirms it, I can let myself enjoy it...I have mine Colombus day as well
I just keep loving both babies, not assigning genders to them just yet.
