Re: Thoughts on this ...
I don't like the 'a little drunk' part much. I'm also curious as to how far along she is, I hope she's well out of the 1st tri!
Just thought I'd throw this out there since it's a bit relavant to the post. I find BabycentreUK's advice on Alcohol while pg to be very intersting, especially compared to what the US version says . . .

Re: Thoughts on this ...
My personal opinion...I wouldn't feed my infant wine, so I wouldn't feed by baby wine in utero either. I personally thing that giving up wine for 9 months is a very small sacrifice to have a child.
Many people say it's ok to have a drink here or there, but it's not proven that all babies are completely unaffected by any amount of alcohol.
And to the people who think it's ok to drink just in the 3rd tri...well, that is when the baby's brain does the most growing and developing.
JMHO.
Drink up after the baby is born!

A pregnant woman goes on vacation, goes to a wine tasting and drinks small samples of the wines they had there. Then says she got a little drunk from the little bit she had.
No, not me!
I did this - but I did NOT get drunk not even a little bit! DH and I went to California on our babymoon. We went to maybe 3 or 4 wineries. I had nothing until the last one, where I did one tasting, and if you have done them before you know you get about 3-4 oz of wine total, not even a full glass of wine.
Having a few sips, even a full glass, IMO is fine. Drinking so much that you feel drunk is not cool. Unless she has the tolerance of a 12 year old - in which case I don't know why she would want to drink in the first place - a few sips isn't going to get anyone drunk. Makes me think she had more than a glass.
ETA: based on other responses I guess it's possible that she did get tispy after a few sips, maybe my tolerance is permanently high after 4 years of college drinking

Re: Thoughts on this ...
The "tipsy" part really bothers me. I have no problem having some wine or beer in the 2nd or 3rd trimester. I did it and I don't regret it. But anything that pushes you to the point of getting drunk is not cool when you're pregnant, IMO.
I 100% respect and admire the women who give up all alcohol during their entire pregnancy. There certainly are good and valid reasons to do so. But just to clarify something....having a few sips of wine while pregnant is not the same as giving a few sips of wine to an infant.
