Thoughts on this ...

A pregnant woman goes on vacation, goes to a wine tasting and drinks small samples of the wines they had there. Then says she got a little drunk from the little bit she had.

No, not me!

i'm sorry, i know some Dr.'s say its ok to have a small glass of wine here and there during pregnancy but iw ould never risk this. this of course is only my opinion, but i wouldn't say anything to her, but i would certainly frown upon the whole situation.

my number one question would be - how pregnant is she?

30+ ehhhh. not a good idea but probably not harmful if it is a 1 time thing.

Ha. We went to Napa when I was about 20 weeks. Obviously the trip was planned before I found out I was pregnant. I didn't do any wine tasting, although you'd be surprised how many people tried to tell me it'd be fine, or to taste and spit. I only inhaled DH's. Chat Icon

Maybe she really did have only a small amount, and bc she hasn't had anything at all to drink in a long time it did affect her.

Thoughts on this ...

Everyone is different and each Dr will tell you different. I would not judge someone who did this. I was so sick my pregnancy I would never had been able to stomach any wine and this is comeing from someone who drinks a glass a day normally.

Agreed!!! Not for nothing, but when you don't drink your tolerance goes down so I'd expect her to feel buzzed after some wine. The little bit that she had could have been a glass total.

Thoughts on this ...

I can see having one small tasting since its really just a few sips, but I would not have any more and especially not enough to get tipsy. It wouldn't be worth the risk for me.

Re: Thoughts on this ...

My dr actually recommends a glass red wine every now and then. I'm not much of a drinker so it hasn't bothered me not to drink and it's not worth it too me. However, I had like 2 microsips of DHs sam Adams cherry beer and felt a very slight buzz. It was just a taste like maybe a tbsp but I haven't drank since feb so I have no tolerance. I can totally see getting tipsy off 4-5 actual sips of wine.

Re: Thoughts on this ...

I got drunk twice during my first trimester and didn't know I was pregnant because I was on BC. I was really concern and the doctor told me not to worry at all. With my last pregnancy my husband asked the doctor if I could have a glass of wine and he said it was totally fine. If we go out to dinner and he gets a glass, I do take a sip off this and that alone gives me a buzz. I wouldn't judge just as long as she wasn't drinking a whole glass for herself or wanting to get drunk.

Re: Thoughts on this ...

Agreed that it is not a good idea to get drunk, but a few sips throughout the pregnancy is not a problem.

Re: Thoughts on this ...

Her pregnancy - her problem
I'd NEVER say anything to anyone drinking, smoking - whatever........totally not my business what you do with yoru own body - I'll talk about you behind your back, but I'd never say anything to someone directly -

and if anyone had EVER said anything to me while I was PG and enjoying a glass of wine here and there I would have totally put them in their nosey obnoxious place!

I can count on one hand the number of glasses of wine I had during each of my pregnancies - but I wouldn't take a sip - i'd enjoy a full glass of wine, and be done. - You'd be surprised though, you can get a bit of a buzz from only one small glass of wine if you haven't been drinking for 9 months !!

i guess it depends on how much she drank. i'd probably get buzzed from one glass.
but personally i would never drink wine during pregnancy. its just not for me.

i wouldnt begrudge someone who has a glass here and there.
but talk to me about my pregnant cousin who drank two huge glasses of sangria in one sitting (the kind with alcohol and alcohol soaked fruit). disdain cant even describe it.

I agree with this. And no matter what, I don't like the idea of my baby having any alcohol in his system, even now at almost 39 weeks!

Re: Thoughts on this ...

I confess I judge when I see pregnant moms drink, smoke, and a few other things. I think it's selfish and I personally don't think it's worth the risk. But it's not my place to ever say anything to the person. My doc, my dh, and my family would be pissed if I had a drink or a smoke during pregnancy
