Where to donate?
I'm going though my DS's old clothes, toys, etc. And I have so many things that we aren't able to use anymore.
I'd love to donate them but not sure where. I really want the stuff to go to needy families.
Any suggestions on where to donate?

Re: Where to donate?
We donate our stuff to our church. They have one of those clothes bins, so we just put them in there.

There is a place that buys the clothes back. I think it's called.once upon a child.

Thanks, I was thinking about doing this and putting that money towards my DD's things. But after hearing how little money you actually get I decided to donate. I'd rather needy people benefit than a store reselling the items.

Re: Where to donate?
My MIL works with St. Vincent de Paul and says the donations are well distributed among the needy and that the majority of the "staff" is volunteer.

Re: Where to donate?
Any infant stuff or baby stuff? My friend called me 2 days ago asking if she could have my baby stuff for her friend who is having a baby and her husband is serving overseas. They don't have a lot and she is having a baby boy. Our son is only 5 months do I'm using most of older ds stuff and clothes but I managed to put a few things together for her like a bumbo, tummy time mat, shoes, socks, and some onesies. Would you be interested in donating to this young mother?

How do you donate to them? Is the info online?
I have bags of DS' clothes to donate and was thinking of giving them to the Church. I want it to go to assorted people who really need it.

Re: Where to donate?
I try to sell back what I can at consignment. If they won't sell it, I ask what their charity is. If its not US (like one of the places gives it to Ecuador and other countries.. umm no) or if its going to the salvation army then I take it back and give it to a Goodwill.
ETA: I refuse to donate her clothes to the salvation army. I used to do all sorts of clothes drives when I was a girl scout. For years. Then we hit hard times, they treated us very poorly. We suffered terribly and I was that kid in tore, used and bad fitting clothes. My father was ex military and we were left with nearly begging. Goodwill took pity on us. Helped us. Local charities and churches helped us. I am forever grateful. But I am now determined to never assist Salvation Army.
I also feel strongly, because of that experience, that we need to feed and cloth our own children of this country first.
