No Thermostat Where Baby Will Sleep
Hi ladies,
I heard that keeping the room between 67-72 degrees is best for reducing the risk of SIDS. However, the room where baby will sleep has no thermostat. Is this dangerous? We don't have central air and the wall unit does not have a thermostat. We are taking all other precautions (we have a ceiling fan, we are not using bumpers in the crib, no loose bedding, no blankets, no stuffed animals, etc.). Anyone have any thoughts? TIA!

Our thermostat is in the hall, I never thought anything of it. Maybe they have cheap ones u can just stick on the wall or a thermometer?

Yeah my mom suggested getting a thermometer and then setting the wall AC unit according to what the thermometer is telling me. Plus I'll be getting up every 2-3 hours so it's not like I won't be able to keep an eye on the temp.

Just go to target or something and get one of those little digital thermometers. We actually have one in our bedroom all the time and will probably do the same for the baby's room. It's only like $10. Then you can adjust the AC as needed.

Re: No Thermostat Where Baby Will Sleep
most baby monitors have a temperature gauge. it's not 100% accurate but it's consistent - so once you figure out how "off" it is, you'll be fine. like, we know that DD's room is ideal if the monitor says its between 75-80 (which is realistically more like 70-74).

There's no thermostat in DD's room. We just kept the household temp at/around 70 (she was a winter baby) and felt it was fine. If you're really nervous, I know BBB sells room thermometers.

We have the Gro-Egg.
Us too! I actually love it because it changes color if it's too hot or too warm so I can tell by just glancing in the room if it's too hot or too cool.

We registered for the gro-egg too. I thought it might be a waste, but DH read about it and he really wants it.

Re: No Thermostat Where Baby Will Sleep
we were completely sids paranoid......
we used no blankets, only the breathable baby bumper, no stuffed animals...
Our thermostat is on the first floor - we don't have a separate one upstairs. we kept the heat on 68 during the day and 66 at night. in the summer we use the ceiling fan plus the ac.

We bought a Sony alarm clock that tells you the temp of the room it is in. We got it at Best buy for like $20.

I'm an idiot... The monitor we have for him DOES have a temperature reading. And the reviews are all excellent. This should work perfectly!!!
