Kindle Fire

I was thinking of getting this for my DS's who will be 4yrs and 2.9mnths at Christmas time. Thoughts?

They always use my iPhone and I'm afraid they're going to brake it. I was thinking of the iPad but it's too expensive. I heard there's an iPad mini coming out but will it be worth it?! I also like that I can read books from the Kindle...can I do that with the iPad?

Sorry so many questions. Just looking for some insight.

Re: Kindle Fire

When I got my IPad a few months ago I gave my Kindle Fire to my DD (she will be 4 in Sept) and she looooves it!! I have it loaded with all of her games and books and I shut off WiFi so she can't get online to buy apps. It's perfect. She still loves my IPad but the Kindle Fire defintely keeps her busy, moreso than the LeapPad did. I think it's a perfect tablet for a kid this age. Chat Icon

My DS (4 in Oct) loves my Kindle Fire. There are lots of apps for preschoolers and I put Toy Story and some Nick Jr shows on it as well.

Re: Kindle Fire

Honestly I would have been the first to say that its way too expensive for a child that young, but my 3yo loves my kindle. He wanted me to leave it this morning so he could play with it. I got DS the Leap Pad and honestly I should have held off and saved the $100 and just add to it this year for the kindle fire. Get's way more use out of it.

Re: Kindle Fire

They are coming out with tablets made specifically for kids that run around $120. I would look into those.

Re: Kindle Fire

I love my Kindle Fire and so does my 4 year old.

One word of caution, and maybe it's because I don't have mine set up properly, is that you don't need a password to buy new apps or videos or anything.

I realized this when I went to look at my Kindle and noticed 4 new apps and 3 new vidoes!Chat Icon

My DD use to buy apps too. Whenever I let her play with it I just disable WiFi so even if she goes to the app store she can't go on a shopping spree. Chat Icon
