Talk to me about the kindle fire. Do I want this instead of an IPAD.
Was reading about the kindle and it seems it can do everything I wanted to do with the IPAD only paying half the price. This sounds to good to be true. Can someone give me the real scoop.

I jsut saw something about this, too! I've heard great things about the Kindle Fire and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9. And I'm a HUGE fan of Samsung phones, so I'm wondering if maybe the Samsung tablet would be a good option instead of the I-Pad.
ETA: Though, the Samsung Galaxy is almost as expensive as the I-Pad.

I preordered the Kindle Fire for DH for either his birthday or Christmas...depending on when it arrives.

I think it's worth it except that you won't have internet access unless you connect to wi-fi. He said he wouldn't mind downloading media before using it, so we're going to give it a try!

I pre-orderd the Kindle Fire. i feel the same way- it seems like it can do pretty much the same things as an I-pad at 1/2 the price. I will let you know when I get it.

Things to consider - you can't skype with the Kindle Fire or take pictures or video since it doesn't have a camera.
You also can only connect to the internet via WiFi.
Otherwise, it supposedly has a lot of the same features as the iPad.
I have a WiFi only iPad and love it. But I love the FaceTime and skype features so that is important for me.

I am getting one for my  
It's a little smaller than the ipad, but seems to do all the same. Amazon priced them competitively so people would consider it over the ipad.

I was thinking of getting it too but I didn't want to pre-order it because I want to wait until it actually comes out so I can read some reviews first. Truthfully though, you probably can't really go wrong for only $200!!
