Need to know everything you know
DH and I are looking into buying a house in LI....We are both from brooklyn and need help understand some of the areas...If anyone can give me an idea of whats up with these areas that would be great.
Background: i am 26 and dh is 29. No kids yet but maybe next year. we have a small dog. I love little stores over some of the big box stores. We love to go out to eat and go to bars . I would love a neighborhood where I can hang with my neighbors. We both need to commute to the city for work especially me bc a few days a month i have to be at work at 530am.
bellmore, merrick, wantagh, seaford, levittown, massapequa

Re: Need to know everything you know
From what I understand all the areas you listed are all great places to live. They were all initially on my list of areas under consideration. My DH and I also commute to Manhattan (lower) so we narrowed our search to North Merrick/ Merrick (North of Merrick Road) and North Bellmore/Bellmore (North of Merrick Road) solely because of the shorter commute. If we did not find anything in these two towns we would have expanded into Wantagh and Levittown.
We just closed on a house in North Bellmore and so far we are very pleased with the area. I think it will be hard for you to predict what neighbors you would be able to "hang" with. Thus far, i find my neighbors friendly but I still do not know if we will become "friends." HTH.

Re: Need to know everything you know
Can't really speak for all the towns.
We live in Seaford. When we go out to dinner we will sometimes just jump on the train to massapequa or rvc so we dont have to drive so its very convenient.
So far I love Seaford...tons of parks for the kids both walking distance and a short drive. Great community. We have friendly neighbors but no one our age really close so we aren't "friends" with anyone.
I don't think you can go wrong with any of those towns though!
Good luck!
