2cm countertop
does anyone have one?
there is a big price difference. and im not sure if the look will make a big difference. my cabinets and countertop are both white and will blend anyway.
also, are there any pros and cons to a thinner countertop?
ill check online too but i want any experience with it as well.
TIA

Re: 2cm counterrop
I had a 2cm silestone countertop installed in my kitchen several years ago (but I have since sold that place). It was significantly less expensive and I never noticed any difference at all. No one ever noticed - and if they did, they never said anything. (And my countertop was a contrasting color to my white cabinets). If you will save $$$$, I would go for it.

Re: 2cm counterrop
youre right, there is hardly a difference when looking at it. and my ktchen is very angular and monochromatic..i cant find a reason NOT to do it. just want to make sure it will hold up as well.
thanks!

Re: 2cm counterrop
is there a difference? well about 1cm.
it doesn't perform any differently, it does look different. no one will comment on it, at least if they're polite. either they will like it and not say anything or think it doesn't look good and not say anything.
I have had 2cm in my bathroom in my old house and in one of the baths in my new house. for the bathroom I think it looks ok. for the kitchen, I'm not a fan of the look. Having said that I think it might be at home in a "modern" contemporary kitchen more so than a traditional one.
it all depends on what you're willing to spend and want to do. Have you seen a whole kitchen in 2cm?
I'm assuming you're talking some sort of manufactured stone since most granites on the east coast are 3cm.

Re: 2cm counterrop
thanks for the reply.
yes, it is silestone quartz.
ive been reading up on it and it does lend itself more to a contemporary feel than a traditional one. it is used very much in germany where things are more sleek. i planned on getting eased edge and i have shaker cabinetry so i think it will blend well with that look.
i dont care if anyone notices thats its thinner..like you said, theyll either love it or hate it, but thats with everything. i have concrete floors that some people will probably at too. the only thing is, i havent seen it anywhere in a full kitchen because its not common. but i didnt see concrete floors in a home either and i love the way they came out.
i did read that there is no better size in terms of durability, so thats good!
