I hope no one minds me crashing but I have a WWYD question
Background: We saw an RE when we were TTC in '08. We were trying for just over a year and I ended up getting PG after the HSG.
We've been trying now for 5 months. I had bleeding in the middle of my cycle in Jan so my gyn sent me for a pelvic sono which revealed a polyp. So now he wants me to have a sonhystogram. I'm tempted to go back to the RE b/c I guess I'm hoping that they can just do one invasive test to check my uterus and fallopian tubes at the same time. And having him remove it if necessary. If I have my GYN do a D&C i get put on his "elective surg" list and I guess I could end up waiting a few weeks since it's not an emergency.
WWYD? I appreciate anyone taking the time to read through and respond. Thanks
ANOTHER QUESTION: So, the sonohystogram revealed that everything was clear and there is no polyp. I have an appt for a post-coital this week. Results of day 3 testing were normal and DH's SA was normal. What else should I ask for? We're holding off on the HSG for now b/c I had a difficult time with it last time. So, the doc is trying to perform the least invasive stuff before doing an HSG. He doesn't think my tubes will show a blockage anyway. I know we haven't been trying that long but since it took so long last time I'm just anxious that it hasn't happened yet. Thans for taking the time to read and offer any suggestions.

If you don't have ant other issues, I'd just stay with the ob. You know you have a polyp so you'll have a d&c hopefully with a hysteroscopy before to check tubes, etc. But all in the same procedure, kwim? If you went to your RE that you haven't seen in a long time, they're going to want to repeat tests, for their own eyes and possibly do some other baseline bloodwork. IMO it'll probably take the same amount of time. I've never had to wait more than a week even for an "elective" procedure. Hth!

IMO I would go to the RE and have it all checked out. Good luck!

Re: I hope no one minds me crashing but I have a WWYD question
Thanks for taking the time to respond ladies. I really appreciate it. The decision's basically been made for me. As long as the sonohystogram confirms it's a polyp then I will definitely need a D&C. My gyn is a solo practitioner so the wait for elective surgery is about 3 months (and they say wait 2 cycles before TTC). I have an appt with the RE in 10 days so I'm hoping he can get this done quickly. I know it's silly but I'll be 35 in 3 months and I keep thinking if it took that long to conceive when I was 31 it's going to take longer since I'm older. I know it's not a rational thought.
Thanks again!

A saline ultrasound can also check the tubes if done by an RE or obgyn experienced with the procedure

I'm pretty sure the saline ultrasound checks the uterus, not the tubes. I had that and my uterus was fine, but I still have to get an HSG to check my tubes.

Re: I hope no one minds me crashing but I have a WWYD question
True .. I wasn't using the proper name it's basically like a saline sonogram but for the fallopian tubes as well; talk to your doctor if they feel this would be a better option for you and find out if they are familiar with the test for tubes- it is different from the regular saline sono: FYI A sonohysterosalpingogram is an innovative, non-radiologic method of assessing fallopian tubes and uterine shape with results that are comparable to HSG. Testing with sonohysterosalpingogram is typically less expensive than with hysterosalpingogram with the added benefits of:
no exposure to radiation because no X-ray equipment is required, the procedure is usually done in the office, eliminating the need for an oupatient hospital visit.
A sonohysterosalpingogram uses sterile saline and air, which is passed through the cervix into the uterus and visualized by transvaginal ultrasound. The test allows the fertility doctor to assess the uterine lining, shape and texture, as well as the fallopian tubes. The test may cause some cramping as it is being performed.

Re: I hope no one minds me crashing but I have a WWYD question
Thanks, ladies! I appreciate all the info and I'm going to ask my doc about the test instead of the HSG. Anything else I should ask about? Is there typically bloodwork done after you ovullate? I've been temping since we started ttc and I know I o. Thanks again!
