CVS test - discomfort/pain level?
For those who have had a CVS and an HSG, how would you compare the discomfort level between the two (if at all possible)?
I imagine it's a whole different ballgame if they go through abdomen, but if through cervix, was it more, less, same level of ickiness compared to HSG?
Anyone not have an HSG but have any experience about the CVS they could share?
I'm having this test done in the city next week at Carnegie South. Apparently people come in from overseas to have the procedure done by these folks, so it's known as THE place to go in the city, but it's still very nerve wracking. I'm trying to remain positive.

Re: CVS test - discomfort/pain level?
I haven't had the HSG, but I did have a CVS test done with my last pregnancy. I had it at 12 weeks 2 days - and it was because my 12 weeks sono showed an increased nuchal thickness.
The whole anticipation is far worse. I had the needle through the abdomen, since my placenta was easiest to get to from there. They do a sono at the same time, so they can see exactly where they are placing the needle. It lasted all of 5 minutes total.
Afterwards, I had no pain or soreness and no cramping (which they said would be normal). I just took it easy that night and I was fine the next day.
Good Luck!

Thank you both! I am having the CVS with Dr. Klauser - I had met him after my first sono and he seemed capable and friendly.

Re: CVS test - discomfort/pain level?
I had the CVS test done at around 11 weeks through the cervix. There was cramping for sure during the procedure and some spotting after for a few days, but the anticipation and wait for results were the worst parts.
I found it to be ALOT less uncomfortable than the HSG.
Good luck!

He discharged me from the hospital after I delivered my first, and was the dr I spoke with when I ruptured a cyst in January. I liked him, but he's not one of the ones I've dealt with a ton. Good luck!
