How many IUIs would you do?
DH and I are trying to decide what we should do if this IUI doesn't take. (of course I hope it does work) It is our third and basically our options are to keep going to move to IVF. On one hand I feel like I am jumping the gun. On the other had this is my thirteenth 2ww and this is getting kind of old and clearly not working so far. I want something to increase our chances of getting a BFP already. Insurance is not an issue, IVF will be covered whenever I want so....
How many would you try before moving on?

I was going to do 3 IUI's then moving on to IVF. Thankfully I didn't have to go to #3 because #2 worked. However...I am 41 and been trying for 15 months.

It depends on your cause of infertility... although after 3, I don't think it's jumping the gun to move on. I did 3... got pregnant on my third but we lost him at 17wks... I did another 3... had a chemical, and that's when we moved on to IVF.
My doctor said 80% of people who will get pregnant through (medicated) IUI will get pregnant in the first 3.

I have to do 6 due to insurance but I would have moved on after IUI #4 but there can be success even at #5 or #6...I think it depends on what your IF is.

This, but I'm 37. My first IUI was unmedicated, so I'd probably do three medicated ones before moving to IVF.

We tried for 3 years on our own before moving on to seeing an RE. We did 2 IUI's that were unsuccessful and 1 medication IUI (clomid) and just got our BFP on that one!
Good luck with whatever you decide!
ETA: in my case, if we didn't get a BFP this month, i would have continued on with a couple more IUI's before moving on to IVF. My insurance only covers one IVF so I was always scared for that to be my last resort.

If IUIs are going to work they should work in 3 or 4. I wouldn't go beyond that particularly if IVF was covered by insurance. For me, IVF is totally out of pocket and $10k a pop or more so moving on to IVF is not an easy decision.
What kind of infertility are you dealing with?

I have unexplained IF like you do and my dr said we can chose between 3-6 iui's before we move on.

It depends on a lot- your goals, age, health risks you might have... Etc
I am 36, have MS and was in a rush to get Pg. To prevent a flare up and to finally start our family. We are married 10yrs. I am also very concerned about egg quality.
I have unexplained IF. If I knew the low stats #'s for iui, I would have gone to IVF straoght away. However, they said my chances should be good since I had no issues. But 3 medicated iui's failed  I jumped ship and am now pregnant after a successful iVf!

we did 8 and to be honest i wish i stopped after 4 or 5 and moved on quicker

I got my BFP on IUI # 8 ! We were not covered for IVF. We progressed from clomid to injectibles.

It took 6 IUIs for me to get my BFP. I was getting fed up and ready to move onto IVF at that point.

I am unexplained and I did 9 iui's because insurance covered them all, but not ivf. None worked. After then doing ivf it worked on my first try.
I would have definitely done ivf sooner had insurance covered. Probably after iui number 5 because we started with just femara and then added follistim to it. If I did injectibles the whole time I would have done ivf after 4.

We were going to do 4 and convinced dd on iui #3. My re suggested 4 cycles before moving onto IVF so that is what was in my head.
