Heart Palpitations
Anyone ever get these during pregnancy? I woke up with them this morning out of the blue and have been getting them on and off all day. I googled it and it seems common during pregnancy. I am going to get an EKG later and then going to see my OB tomm just to make sure all is well. I was curious to see if anyone else has gotten them? Im 25w btw.

Re: Heart Palpitations
I've had them with both pregnancies, but really thought I was going to the ER the other night they were so bad. I was freaking out bc i couldnt get it to stop for hours. I know they are common but my OB also suggested an EKG before my due date. I'm 34 weeks. They are definitely scary!

Re: Heart Palpitations
I get them and have a medication from my dr . If they get bad I' m supposed to take it , but so far haven't needed one. Def would check with a cardiologist. I developed serious cardiac issues while pregnant with DD and tok me years to get back to normal.

Re: Heart Palpitations
I developed an atrial premature contraction when pregnant with dd and it never went away. it is considered a benign heart issue due to where it is located but I did have to go to the cardiologist to find that out. I have an abnormal EKG and I feel anxious and heart palpations when i have an episode. These episodes can happen anywhere from 3-15 times a day. I would call your doctor and have it checked out. I have come pretty close to passing out but since I know the symptoms I know to sit down when it happens.

Re: Heart Palpitations
I've always had them (mostly when i'm stressed out though). My OB sent me to a cardiologist just in case.
The cardiologist wasn't even worried about it. He just said "better safe than sorry" and ran a bunch of tests: I had an EKG done, then he made me wear a heart rate monitor for 24 hours and then it ended with a heart sonogram. In the end, he confirmed there was nothing wrong.
So yes, it's totally normal and i wouldn't worry about it if i were you. That said, i'm very happy I went and got it checked out. . It was good to get that peace of mind that everything is fine.

Re: Heart Palpitations
I have had them on and off my entire pregnancy (I'm 38 weeks now). I believe it is due to the fact that your heart has to work overtime while pregnant because your blood volume greatly increased. I know a lot of people who experience this and always assumed it was normal.

Re: Heart Palpitations
I have been getting them since about 8 weeks. My talked to my OB and saw a cardiologist; neither one of them seemed very concerned. They both said it can be normal in pregnancy due to increased blood volume. I hate it when they happen though.

Re: Heart Palpitations
i've been getting them for the past 2 weeks. i also had them with my first. i usually sit down and rest when they happen because i also get out of breath. they are fairly normal, and I would just mention it to your OB
