Seeding or NOT seeding in the spring to cut down on weeds?
Do you seed in the spring? I am being told by my landscaper AND Scott's that we should not seed to cut down on the weeds that we are trying to control.
Do you agree with this concept of no seeding in the spring, only fall (which we did not do unfortunately last year)?

We seed both in fall and spring. We also use a crab grass weed killer, turf biluder and bug killer.

Re: Seeding or NOT seeding in the spring to cut down on weeds?
If you want to use a crabgrass PREVENTER in spring, you cannot seed at the same time as the chemicals stop the seeds(of both grass and weeds) from germinating. It is better to seed in the fall -When you seed grass, you have to water multiple times a day and that is very conducive to weed growth too. Also, the young grass will be very susceptible to heat stress in the summer. So if you do seed in spring, do not use the crabgrass preventer + fertilizer (Step 1 scotts) and be ready to battle the weeds with weed killer in the summer.
