Not sure what to do...
I am an attorney and have a deposition scheduled in albany for in 2 weeks. I've never had to travel for a deposition before. I'll be 33 weeks and my dr said it's fine. Last pregnancy i had major complications and was on bedrest by 32 weeks. So far, I've been ok this time. I think Albany is about 3 hours with NO traffic, so I'd have to leave around 5-6 am and I'd probably be returning home around 11. I'd make a lot of money if I go, which is nice, and I told my boss that my dr ok-ed it, but now I am having second thoughts and DH said no way. WWYD? IT's not just the travel, but it's traveling alone and somewhere i've never been, and it will be a long day. Would you go? If it's a bad idea i'll have to tell my boss that my dr changed his mind or something
eta: I can't bring anyone with me. The client won't pay for 2 people to go. DH can't come with me and hang out in ALbany, it would defeat the purpose of me making the money b/c he'd be taking off work, and we have a young DC at home. I know i told my boss it's ok, but i don't want to risk anything because of something i said and my health would still come first. Overall i feel ok, but there are days when i feel like i could fall asleep any second, especially when driving.

Can you bring someone with you? You already told your boss it was fine so I'd probably plan on going unless something changed and you began not feeling well.

Re: Not sure what to do...
Can your DH take time off and go with you? Or maybe spend the night in a hotel so it's not such a long day?

IDK thats a rough one! You have to go with your gut on this one. The dr said it was ok but I dont know how comfortable I would be going so far by myself either...some days I would say go for it and others I cant go anywhere so...gl

If you're dr. is ok with it then I would probably go. As long as you have been feeling fine overall I dont see a reason that I wouldn't go. But you have to do what you feel is best for you, and only you know how you feel.

I think you need to do what you feel most comfortable with... If you cant do it with a clear head then I would say dont. Thats just my opinion. I understand your dr said its ok but YOU have to feel ok with it...

Maybe tell your boss you might not be able to and feel out his/her reaction? That way if you don't feel right or comfortable, you have an out.

Re: Not sure what to do...
If DH can't come maybe a friend instead? If you get tired you can pull to a rest stop take a 15 min snap ( short nap) set your phone to wake you. But ultimately you know. I ad to fly to Chicago for 4 days and really didn't want to go tried to get out of it but it was ok . Or can your job provide you car service? Then you would be ok.

Re: Not sure what to do...
I'd probably go. I'm an attorney and had quite a few long days and late nights with my first pregnancy. The late nights this time were early on. The furthest I traveled during my last pregnancy was about 1.5 hours each way, but there were nights that I didn't get home until 11-1. I even had much later night scheduled at 36 or 37 weeks, but ended up being put on bedrest shortly before that.

Have you thought about taking Megabus or Amtrak? They both drop you off in Rensselaer (about a 3 minute cab ride from Albany). With the times you are traveling, there would probably be no traffic. I frequently travel from Albany to Levittown and the drive takes 2 hours 45 minutes with no traffic.

Re: Not sure what to do...
so i guess the consensus is that everyone would go... i don't know why i'm so hesitant, maybe it's just fear of getting lost or my car breaking down

Re: Not sure what to do...
I would follow your gut ~ I am not sure if I would go ~ even with your dr ok ~ just based on your history. (you just never know) Good Luck in your decision.

Re: Not sure what to do...
See I'm different - I personally wouldn't go at 35 weeks. I delivered my first at 31w6d and I'm personally not comfortable being that far from home in case of anything.
But I'm a worrier. If your doctor ok'd it and you're feeling well, it will more than likely be ok. The good thing is that it's a one day thing so more than likely it will be fine
