BTDT mommies of boys....question about circumcision care
Not looking for a debate of to circumcise or not....just wondering what I will need to care for my little guy's little thingy once we're home from the hospital. I feel like I keep reading such different approaches as to how to care for it. I want to have everything ready and get some real life mommy tips of what worked for you. TIA!!

The hospital gave me tubes of vaseline and i globbed that stuff on every diaper change. It was pretty easy.

They gave me everything at the hospital that I needed. At every diaper change we put vaseline on a cloth & put it on his thingy then closed the diaper over it. Also a few times a day we soak a washcloth & squeezed the liquid on it.

How long did it take to heal too? I am just feeling so nervous about this for some reason. I know if you don't properly care for it things can go dramatically wrong

From what I remember I think we only had to use the vaseline for 2-3 weeks. Don't feel nervous, the nurses are wonderful & will help you every step of the way!

Just vaseline on the tip every diaper change. DS was all healed up in 2-3 days and never had any discomfort.

Same as pp. The hospital gave us plenty of vaseline and gauze pads. It took about 2 weeks to heal. The ped checked it at his 1 week and 2 week visits and told us at the 2 week one that it was fine and we no longer needed to put stuff on it.

Every diaper change I cleaned with a cotton ball/gauze pads ~ pretty much no rubbing just drip it on top and all around the area that is healing then lots of vaseline (the hospital gives you a lot of tubes)
