Nose Bleeds - TMI
I get nose bleeds all the time when pregnant but how long is too long for a nose bleed to last??? I have one right now that has been going strong for atleast 20 minutes and what makes me more concerned (TMI) I have passed at least 2-3 large tissue clots from my nose. I normally pass one or two small ones but these are very large. Should I be concerned?? TIA
ETA - it started out with both nostrils and now has finally just continues with one - is that normal? I have never had that before

I don't know much about nose bleeds, but I would definitely talk to your doctor about it. It could mean there is a more serious issue. I only say this because I am dealing with low platelets, which causes blood clotting issues.

Thank you very much It stopped after around 40 minutes! I have an appointment on the 16th and will definitely be mentioning what happened.

Make sure you tilt your head foward not back back when you have a nose bleed!I think 20 mins is a long time for a nose bleed. I would bring that up to the dr. I get them too but they only last 5-10 mins.

I was just going to say this!! I had a really bad nosebleed about a year ago, kept going for 45 minutes!! I mistakenly was holding my head back which was not allowing it to clot, once a co-worker googled the correct way I held my head forward for about 15 minutes and applied pressure at the bridge of my nose and it finally stopped!! (I was stuck in the ladies room at work until it was over!! it was torture!!). Glad yours finally ended, I hope all is ok!!

Re: Nose Bleeds - TMI
I have gotten them with all of my pregnancies. They can last for quite awhile. As the previous poster suggested dont tilt your head back. Just upright and apply pressure to the bridge of the nose. From what I remember the clots are pretty normal.
