starting to get panicky
I am 34 weeks. In three weeks I will be full term. This baby feels big, and I wouldn't be surprised if I dont make it till my due date 6 weeks from now.
In any case- the nursery is still not done, many many lose ends at work, and I feel like on top of all that I am forgetting something important that I have to do....some sort of paperwork or some kind of preparations..
I am also freaking out about the house not being clean enough for the baby. I feel like I want to hire a cleaning crew to scrub down everything including windows, walls, bathroom floors, etc.
I am swinging from periods of manic craziness to complete exhaustion and apathy.
Is this happening to anyone else?

Your in your nesting phase. Relax, it will all get done and if something doesn't you won't mind once you have the baby!

Re: starting to get panicky
I feel the same way. 35 weeks today and there is SO much to be done.
I just had my shower on sunday so there is so much to be organized, washed, put away, put together, returned, exchanged etc. The nursery is not done, the house is a MESS since I've been really neglecting it because I am SO tired after work. I'm considering having someone do a deep clean as well. Work is going to be crazy this last month since we are coordinating a move. I can't believe it's happening to me in my last month So stressed out with the work piling up!!!
And I have to pick a pediatrician as well as do a million other things

Re: starting to get panicky
I think it's totally normal. I'm 35w and I'm the same way lately. Slowly things are getting done and whatever isn't done before your LO gets here will be figured out. Try not to stress too much.

Re: starting to get panicky
It's so normal, I am 31 weeks and am starting the nesting phase too. One minute I am a mad woman cleaning and organizing and the next I am balling b/c I feel like I am not going to have enough time to get things done. The girls are right, we need to just take it easy and it will get done. If it doesnt, the baby will still get along just fine. Feel better

Totally! I feel like I'm on the verge of an anxiety attack. My DH is the biggest procrastinator and our nursery isn't done yet either. My house is a disaster because he has his tools everywhere. I just texted him asking him to take 2 days off to finish evrything up so I can clean. I'm 37 weeks and am exhausted after work. He's going to drive me crazy!! He's supposed to start painting today after work.

Re: starting to get panicky
I went into labor at 37 weeks with my 1st DS. On that day my MIL was at my house helping me do a hard core cleaning because I had a break down the night before. I'm telling you it is totally normal. Write a list and try to complete 1 task a day. It will help you to get things done and it won't seem so overwhelming.
This is my 2nd so I have been pushing things off. Well I was put onto bedrest 3 weeks ago and now I can't do anything. I just keep telling myself that this baby will be in a bassinet in my room for at least 2 months. That will give me time to get things done!

Re: starting to get panicky
I know exactly how you feel! My DH is a horrible procrastinator. Our entire house is under construction and there is no way that the nursery or our room is going to be ready in time for baby to come home (I'm 37w 6d). Our bed is currently on out living room . There are mountains of stuff everywhere. We have had some bad fights about it the past few weeks but I've resigned myself to the fact that I will just have to deal with the house the way it is until it all gets done. The baby is not going to mind.

Re: starting to get panicky
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I keep telling DH I'm going to stop working if he doesn't get this stuff done. I just was vacuuming the Sheetrock in the new room so he can't use the walls are dusty so I can't paint tonight as an excuse lol.

Re: starting to get panicky
Thanks all for the replies. I am relieved that I am not crazy and that this is totally normal.
I just feel like I would be more at ease if I knew that everything was where it needed to be and taken care of.
My DH has been working non stop to get the nursery done, but it always seems to take longer and cost more than expected.
The rugs are coming on Thursday which is great (we converted the half of the upstairs that was an attic into 3 rooms- powder room, nursery and small 3rd bedroom). It has been a lot of work for DH and he has been super stressed about it as well. I really cannot complain about anything having to do with his work ethic...its more just a general feeling of having no control over anything

Re: starting to get panicky
I do think that what you are feeling is normal. This is my 2nd pregnancy and you would think that I would be relaxed about a lot of things since I've done this before, and yet I have been an anxious uptight mess!
For the past 2 weeks I've been cleaning like crazy. Sorting through the baby's clothes, trying to find a place to put things away, running errands like crazy trying to get things done. We don't have a room for the baby at this point. My DH didn't get the office cleaned out yet. So the baby will be in the pack and play in our room --- which is totally FINE, but it makes it hard in some ways because we don't have a room to set up everything in.
But what ends up happening is that I loose sleep over my long list of thigns I want to do. I should be resting in the afternoon when I can and getting as much sleep as possible at night and instead I'm always worrying about everything. Then I overdo it and it stops me dead in my tracks.
Try and relax. Everything will be OK. You can hire a cleaning crew to come in for a one time deal if you really need to. And ask for help --- sisters, friends, whoever you can ask, and make your husband help too! Mine is a horrible cleaner but he will do it if I ask him to!
