hi all. so the day has come at 30ish weeks to start insulin.

my day sugars are ok if i watch what i eat but my fasting am are getting higher and higher....now 100-110
so they are going to keep me on glyburide 5mg at night and 5mg am and add 20 units of slow acting insulin at bedtime too.

sigh ....to those who take insulin daily or once a day..does it help alot? how are you feeling? anything i need to know? tia!!!

I take insulin at bedtime for my fasting #s as well. I was so afraid to go on it but honestly it's not that bad. It took a while to find a dosage that would help me and I notice that I actually have to take it a few hours before I go to sleep in order for it to really work. So far I feel ok on it. Hope it helps you!

Insulin helps ALOT!

The night time snack is super important when you are taking it so make sure you are having one each night. I usually have a small snack right before I take the shot and go to bed. My morning numbers are consistently in the 70's and 80's unless I skip that snack - then I go up to the 90's and 100's.

I know what you mean - My DH works on the later side so I usually eat dinner around 8 and go to bed around 10:30....

I will usually have a few ritz crackers with peanut butter or a reduced sugar granola bar. Occasionally I will have a small bowl of Special K Protein Plus cereal with skim milk if I had an early or small dinner. I always try to have something high in protein and about 15 to 20 carbs.
