Had my 1st sono yesterday
Had my first sono yesterday. It was such an amazing moment to see that little heartbeat! DH and I were both speechless and both of us started tearing!
The u/s tech said i was about 6 weeks and 1 day along. Looks like my little Lentil will be an October baby!
Question though - the doctor mentioned that there's currently a little sack of blood between the baby and the uterus wall. She said that she sees it often and that I shouldn't get worried, that it usually just goes away on it's own. But of course, I am worried. I don't even remember what the condition is called. Has anybody had this? How long does it take until it goes away?
I have another appointment on Monday so of course, I will ask the Dr then. Until then, though, i'm hoping somebody else has experienced this too.

Re: Had my 1st sono yesterday
Congrats!!! Another October baby! I just had my first sono last week and the tech saw the same thing with the blood. The dr. said its probably from the placenta attaching to the uterus wall. She recommended no intercourse until it goes away. She didn't seem concerned though even though it made me nervous. But I guess it's kind of common. She also said it could lead to spotting, since the blood has to go somewhere but that it shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Congrats!!! I had the same thing with my current pregnancy. My dr. said it's very common and he would actually be more surprised to not see it then to see it. He also warned me of possible spotting if that blood doesn't absorb and instead comes out. But again...completely normal if it does. It's really nothing to worry about!

Re: Had my 1st sono yesterday
Congrats!!! It is so amazing to see the heartbeat!!
I have what you are talking about. I believe its called a subchorionic hematoma. Dont get too nervous about it (easier said than done).
I actually started bleeding heavy Sunday night into Mon. I thought something was very wrong but I was not having any cramping. I saw the dr on Tues, and we heard the heartbeat for the first time! Evrything was fine. She said sometimes a sac of blood will open up and cause bleeding.
If you do notice bleeding, stay calm (as hard as that is). If its not accompanied by bad cramping it could just be the hematoma.
