What is a nice way of saying...
"I dont want you in the delivery room with me"
Me and DH live in Chicago and none of my family will be in town for the birth. I guess my SIL thinks I need her there with me as a substitute or something...because she had told me about 10 times that she will be with me and DH in the delivery room. I have already told her that I dont need anyone but DH in there...but she still says she is going to be there. She even checked the hospital to make sure its OK that she is there too. She even told coworkers about it (we work together) and they all egg her on and think its a fabulous idea.
However, I really just want it to be DH and I. I told her that its a huge moment in our lives and I just want us to be togeher when is born, but she doesn't get it.
grrrrrrr.

Honestly it seems like you have already told her nicely that you didn't want her in the room. At this point I would just say "dh and I have decided that we want to share this moment between the two of us and our minds are made up." Maybe if you want to you can have her hang out with you during the early stages of labor but go in the waiting room during pushing. Worst case scenario if she STILL doesn't get it, you can always tell the nurses to kick her out! But I would really hope she would respect your wishes and it wouldn't have to come to that.

Wow! I was going to suggest just telling her how special this moment will be for the 2 of you. But it sounds like you already did! If it were me I'd say, listen Sue this is really hard for me to say this (get teary eyed) and I just feel so guilty because I know how much you want to support DH and I. But I want to be completely honest with you. DH and I have discussed this, and we just want it to be the 2 of us in the delivery room. It's just so important for us to have that intimate moment and connection alone. I can't imagine missing out on that.
Something along those lines. If worse comes to worse, on the day of, you just inform the nurses and staff that she's not allowed in!!!
Good luck!! This is a hard one!!

Straight out is the way to go. Listen sis, it will only be DH and I in the room because this is a moment we want to share together, alone. I love you but you will not be in the delivery room.
I am actually telling nurses and doctors that the first day I only want my husband in my room. I may allow my parents and BF to visit later, but baby will be in nursery. I don't want the whole world touching her. Geez some people.
