Re: Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes!
Any chance you could do this with a box cake mix? Or Brownies?
DS's birthday is soon and I think it would be pretty cool....except I'm not much of a baker.

Thanks! I was very careful when I put them in the oven to make sure they were all upright. But I could see it happening! When I took them out of the oven and tried to stand them on a plate with a slight curve, they fell all over the place. But they had already been baked so it made no difference.

Absolutely! I'd just follow the temperature and baking time on the box for cupcakes.

Love them!
I make them often but one time I made them for a block party. Big mistake. Huge.
Transporting them was an effing nightmare. They fell all over each other - my meticulous icing was ruined.
I made DH pull over so I could cry. I must have been PMSing. It was a terrible breakdown.

Re: Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes!
I made these last week for my son's birthday. The instructions were actually on the side of the box of cones. I put my cones inside muffin tins, and put a little foil around the bottoms. It kept them from falling over. I put sprinkles on the frosting and they looked just like a real ice cream cone.
The only problem was, no way to transport them to school, so we kept them for home. They kept tipping over, so I cut holes in the top of a box lid, and just put them in there until we were ready to serve them.

I know! The only way to transport them is to jury rig some kind of cardboard thing. It's ridiculous, but luckily, I didn't have to bring them anywhere. lol.
I also saw on the side of the box that they were selling a tray to bake and transport them in. It looked flimsy and it was $20 + s/h! Riiiiiiiiiight!

Re: Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes!
to transport take a piece of styrofoam and stick toothpicks in them. Then stick baked and decorated ones on top of the picks...

I stupidly made them to sell at my DD's breast cancer field hockey game. The icing was perfect with pink ribbons piped on. What a freaking mess. I was MORTIFIED. People still bought them, though.

Re: Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes!
I've been meaning to try these!
Question - how much do you fill the ice cream cones before baking? Not all the way to the top, right? How much space do you leave?
