spotting?

this is totally going to get into tmi, but i figured id see if anyone can provide me with insight...

I have never had spotting before...this is my first month off bcp and i always got a full period on the same exact day. I am currently 12dpo and noticed yesterday the tiniest bit of spotting in the early evening. i figured it was the start of af...but this morning nothing. again just now a teeny tiny bit of spotting but nothing else. i have been going to the bathroom hourly just to check on things.
here is my question...when you spot, is it the same consistency/color as your normal period? this totally isnt so i dont know if its normal or if i should see the doctor or what. its also SO minor that it could be nothing or maybe its normal.
those that do spot before AF...how many days do you spot? and is it just like AF?

I had this 2 weeks ago!!! (exactly 7 days BEFORE my reg period due) I had brownish spots for 2 days(not enough for a pad) then 2 more days of very very light bleed(red) then last day back to just spot when I wipe. No cramps No sore boobs nothing. My normal period never came (due date 1/13).
I did have mc & D&C in sept so Im thinking my bod is just getting back on track even though I had 2 cycles. Maybe yours is too, hormones are balancing out...Im curious just like you. ps: BPN on HPT that was taken 5days after period due.

b/c it's your first month off BCP i might just say it's break through bleeding. Just spotting from your body adjusting to being off the pill.

oh i completely skipped over the spotting questions too...sorry!

I usually spot before AF. Like 1-2 days. But when I was on BCP if i missed pills i would spot too. For me; it's a light red/pink color. No clots just if i wipe i'll see red on the tissue (sorry if TMI). Never a full flow or where I have to use a pad.
