Spinoff: Bumpers

Ok...as a new mommy to be, I am being told not to put the bumpers in the babies crib...now, I am reading the other post when you don't take them off.

So..when do you put them in, in the first place? And then you have to take them out? This is all so confusing Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff: Bumpers

Some people are against having bumpers for fear of suffocation and SIDS. They sell the breatheable ones (if the baby's face is against the bumper while sleeping they can breathe through it).

Re: Spinoff: Bumpers

We had ours on in the beginning and took it off once she started rolling around in the crib (fear of suffocation). I think dd was close to 4 months.

I took hers out, but she kept sticking her limbs through the slats so I put them back in.
I bought the breathable one to try but it didn't fit the crib right.

I use the breathable one. The one we got w/ the crib bedding set was SO puffy, I can't see how it would be safe for a child.

Mine have been in since Day 1 but she didn't sleep in her crib until 6 months. They really don't move much in the early months so I don't know about it being a SIDS risk then. Chat Icon

I had mine in since Day 1 and still have them in at 16 months old. Some things you read say keep them, some say take it off,s ome say don't ever use them. I just did what worked for me.
