High Amniotic Flud

Hey - does anybody else know what high levels of amniotic fluid mean? I have Gestational Diabetes so at 30 weeks the baby is already 4 pounds and the doc at the hospital said my amnio fluid was high.

I just asked my ultrasound tech yesterday about this. Mine was 13, she said high would be 20 or over. She said they've have people get to 40. If it is too high it causes the uterus to expand too much and then it can cause contractions. She said they've had to do amnios to drain the fluid.

Hope that's helpful, but I would ask the doctor specifically what yours was and more detail, because again, that was just from my tech.

i have high amniotic fluid also. 20 is the highest they want it to go and i'm at 21.5. not too much to worry about, but doc said it can get up to 40 and baby could start to swallow fluid.

they did a non-stress test once they found out, but that came back normal. your doc should tell you how high it is if he is concerned.
