I am 29 weeks, and I had a sono today which showed me I had high levels of fluid... they are going to monitor me every 2 weeks... but I wanted to see if anyone had any experiences with this.... of course i checked the internet.. and am just brushing off whatever it said... since I dont want to worry too much.. what can I expect???

Re: high levels of amniotic fluid...
I had high levels with DS. They didn't discover it until 35 weeks when I had a sono because I was measuring so big!! From that point on I had to go for sonos every 3 days and my doctor pulled me out of work. He was also huge so I wound up having a c/s at 37 weeks. He was my second so I had planned a scheduled c/s anyway but they moved it up.
He swallowed some fluid during the delivery. He was in the NICU for 3 days. Other then that he is perfect.
Stay away from google. It is scary and not necessary.

Re: high levels of amniotic fluid...
yes at 32 weeks it was noted and it ended up being completely idiopathic (no explainable reason)...
do not google. it will only drive you nuts. MOST (like 95% of the time) it is idiopathic.
i was monitored more closely and I was told to expect a flood when my water broke
the only issue was that DS never dropped since my fluid was so high and he turned from breach to head down to transverse until the day I delivered. it could have also been a cause for me not dilating or effacing. since he never dropped, there was no pressure on my cervix. I ended up with a C at 40w2d with zero progress...
there are MANY moms here who had high fluid and zero complications

Re: high levels of amniotic fluid...
Had atremendous amount of fluid with DD (the nurses were in shock)
This time same thing- The sono tech today told me to have the OB wear rain gear because I would flood out the delivery room
She said big baby means more fluid so they don't seem overly concerned and that too much is betetr than too little...

Re: high levels of amniotic fluid...
I had a crapload of amniotic fluid. Can't remember when they knew it, but somewhere around 34 weeks I was put on 'modified bedrest'. They were concerned with the water breaking and everything flushing out in the 'flood', including the umbilical cord. It is nothing to freak over, but at times the doctor just wants you to stay close to home and hospital in the last weeks of pregnancy.
In those last few weeks my fluid kept doubling every week, which got a little nutso. In fact, the day I delivered, My sono showed DS fully outstretched in my belly. He was enjoying the Olympic Size swimming pool.
Only thing they make check you for is GD again and again. DS was very big and with the large amount of amniotic fluid, it screams GD. They checked me every week and I never had it.

Re: high levels of amniotic fluid...
I had a huge amount as well, but nobody was worried. I had the flood everyone talks about when my water broke. It was also bloody - nobody warned me it might be! Pink water was flowing out of me non-stop - all over my apartment. I went from the living room to the bedroom to change (dumb move - new pants got just as soaked), and the apartment looked like a crime scene. I sat on 2 towels and leaked the whole way to the hospital.
I ended up w/ an emergency c-section 24 hours later. Although my water broke, I didn't dilate. So, I'm glad I had all that fluid to keep her safe during that time.
I was absolutely humongous. Lost 25 lbs at delivery and DD was only 7.1.

Re: high levels of amniotic fluid...
I had it with DD#1. They found out around 25 weeks or so and I had it until 36 weeks (2 weeks before I delivered- it just suddenly went back to normal). For me - they thought DD might have a swallowing problem - and needed testing at birth. Luckily she didn't have the issues they thought she might have. GD can also cause this - but I didn't have it with DD#1.
I think many cases are unexplained.
Etd to add I was borderline where they might consider removing fluid. So I had very high levels.
The problem is that since mine went down 2 weeks before - that it sometimes weakens your muscles - so my contractions weren't as strong and they should have been even on pitocin.

Re: high levels of amniotic fluid...
I had a HUGE amount of amniotic fluid. They didn't know why - I am diabetic, but my blood sugars were under good control, so they didn't think it was b/c of that. My fluid measure at 35 the week before I had my c-section. They said if I wasn't scheduled for a c-section, they would have done an emergency. They said that the problem is for the mother - all that fluid makes it really difficult/uncomfortable for the mother to breathe, sleep and walk. When they did the actual c-section, there was so much fluid that the drs couldn't stop talking about it!!! It was all over the floor and my dd came out literally moving her arms and legs like she was swimming!! They did not seem worried about it, so don't you worry about it!
