Poor Caiden...

I don't know what to do. Caiden just cries "boo boo hiney" everytime he has to go! I think he's constipated and having painful bowel movements. He's sooo pitiful! This has been going for at least 4 weeks now. He won't drink or eat applesauce enough for it to help. I really need some home remedies to try. I didn't think anything of it at first because I thought it was only a temporary thing, but it's continuing and I feel soooo bad for him. His little hiney area around the opening is all red as well. Please, can anyone help? He is pooping, but it's painful for him and it takes him a few diapers to get it all out. HELP!!!

Re: Poor Caiden...

How did Caiden react to sweet potatoes? DD just started on them but each time they are in and out so quick! Maybe that could help him. I think other people have given their babies diluted prune juice and that helps alot as well. Good Luck.

FYI applesauce is constipating. Apple juice can help soften the BM.
Hope he feels better soon.

Re: Poor Caiden...

you might want to take him to the doctor - i have heard that it is common for babies and little kids to get fissures. (sp?)

Re: Poor Caiden...

My daughter has been constipated since APRIL!! I have tried EVERYTHING!! This kid is on more fiber, than you could ever imagine. In May I took her to the ped. She refered her to a ped.GI.. We went last week. She was checked out to make sure there weren't any problems. She is badly constipated. That is what he said. He gave me a prescription for a laxative. He said don't try it yet. To use mineral oil first in her milk. The kind he recommended starts with a K. I can't remember the spelling of the name. I have to give her 1-2 tablespoons a day in her milk. My dd has been holding back her poops because they hurt her so much. I started giving this to her. It has helped, but she still struggles to go. They aren't as painful. It is soooo frustrating. I want to know what causes it, the dr. just wants to cure it. Ahhhhh. I am not sure of the spelling of the mineral oil she is on. I'll sound it out for you Kondremual. If you want more info, let me know. It is soooo frustrating.

My daughter has been on Pear Juice, Apple juice and prune juice and it hasn't helped. She drinks anywhere from 16-20 oz. of water a day. She is on lactose free milk. She gets cheese at the most once a week. Whole wheat everything and she is still constipated. I am at a loss. She eats fruit with every meal. Usually peaches, strawberries, or blackberries. She is 22 months old and I still give her baby food veggies. She loves them. She isn't a fan of regular veggies.

So, to answer your question about home remedies, I feel like I have tried everyone in the book. So, keep the suggestions coming because I don't really want to give my daughter laxatives if I don't have too.

Re: Poor Caiden...

definately take care of it now. DS started this way and has since progressed to purposely withholding. When he went 7 days without a BM my ped had me start him on a laxativeChat Icon .

At one point Ryan would eat and loved the bite size prunes. He would eat them like raisins and I would actually have to limit them. Then he stopped eating that and I would give him a cup of 1/2 apple juice 1/2 prune juice every day. This really helped too.

Good luck!
