Today is my due date. Went to the doctors and there is still no progress. She's head down and low, but my cervix is long, high,and closed.

If I dont go into labor by Tuesday, my dr wants me to come in Tuesday night to get cervidil, and then if it works starts pitocin Wed.

I know there is a good chance it wont work since my body isnt ready. He said at that point, I can either go home Wed and try the following week or get a c-section.

Im so mad because I want a natural birth. I have read and heard sooo many bad experiences on these drugs and ultimately causing the baby distress and leading to a c-section.

If it's not medically neccessary for her to be HERE NOW, why cant we just wait until the following week to begin with???????????? That's my main issue. It's obviously not that urgent to get her out, if he would let me go home and try the next week....GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I feel so rushed when I'm at my drs office now,and like he's not understanding. I feel like this is being done because it's when he's on call.

Everything is normal and healthy. Great fluid levels, not that swollen, great blood pressure...it's just that I'm on Heparin, but there is a drug to reverse it..

I want to scream. Needed to vent..sorry

Its your body and your baby - DO NOT feel pressured to give birth if you arent ready. If the baby is NOT in any danger, then you have every right to say no, Ill wait and see. Dont worry about not being dilated at all. When I had DS, I had a regular OB appt that afternoon, was at 0 and still went into labor that night.

I went to my dr the day before my due date and had no progress. We had the same induction discussion. But less then 24 hours later I went into labor on my own on my due date. So you never know!

That said, if you really don't want to do something they can't force you to. I agree with the pp- your body, your baby- therefore your decision.

The don't do it. It's your body, your baby. If it's not medically necessary, don't let him rush you!

One of my friends was in the same boat and she just kept not going in for the cervadil. Her ob was a little annoyed nut she had her natural birth at 41 wks.

I knew ahead of time that my doctor would not let me go to 41 weeks so while I was not pleased with being scheduled for an induction only a few days after my due date I liked the idea that it would be him on call and that i would have my own doctor so I didn't mind it so much. That said, I went into labor on my own 1 day past my due date and was delivered by another doctor in the practice which was totally fine too.

Dont stress it...it will all work out

Thanks. I'm going to go for a loooooooong walk today..do some squats.... more, and hope labor starts!!!

I am crampy at times, but no real contractions yet!

Don't feel pressured! Just say no!!! They wanted to induce me with my second because i was 3-4 cm dilated and fully effaced plus my first labor went kind of fast. I said no. They let me wait. Now that I am pregnant with my third they mentioned that I may want to consider getting induced because of how quickly the second baby came. I am still going to refuse! I will take my chances. I only live 2 miles from the hospital so it won't be a problem getting there.

Is the baby measuring on the large side? Maybe he is concerned that the baby will be too large if you wait another week then possibly forcing a c-section anyway?

Your doctor will NOT remember your birth experience a month from now....you will carry it for the rest of your life!!!

NO! Do not let him pressure you. If baby is healthy you can go until she decides she is ready, there's a possibility your due date was miscalculated by a few days. Please do alot of walking, go for a massage if you can. Try not to worry about the time (I KNOW it's hard). I have faith you will go into labor this weekend.

I totally understand and would feel the same way. Even though I have a looong way to go, I worry about being in this position some day. I just really want to let my body do it's job once the time is right. Try to be firm with your doctor and let him know that you don't feel comfortable with the drugs unless it's a real necessity. I know it's hard, since saying no to a doctor just doesn't feel right. The PP said it well, you are the one who will remember this birth for the rest of your life. Advocate for yourself and do it the way you want.
