Bad heartburn
What else can we take besides Tums? Hate chewing those chalky tablets.

Re: Bad heartburn
Drinking milk and sitting up work for me. (if you can stand the taste of milk). I feel like I take too many tums so I started drinking at least 2 glasses of milk per day and it's lowered my heartburn. I got it like crazy before that.

Re: Bad heartburn
I know this seems like an impossible remedy but eating an apple actually helps! An older woman at work told to try it last week and I couldn't believe it when my indigestion went away.

Re: Bad heartburn
My Dr told me Zantac...and it's a Godsend!!
His wife is the office manager and she told me at my last visit that she took it every day her pregnancy because otherwise it was intolerable.

really? Wow I've never heard that. I'll definitely have to try it since tums make me right now

Re: Bad heartburn
I'm told papaya pills work but I havent tried that yet. I either take tums, tho they can make me gag sometimes...or a shot of milk. So far these two have kept my heartburn to a minimum

Re: Bad heartburn
Zantac is the only thing working for me! I take 1 a day, most days anyway.

Re: Bad heartburn
my dr told me pepsid ac or zantac. But to use pepsid first bc it was preferable to zantac. Also to use the smallest dosage up to 2x a day.
For me it is worse in the evening and at night. I take the pepsid at 3am ish (pee break) and that gets me through the day and at 3pm I take a zantac. and it makes the evening /night slightly tolerable.
In between I have a few chugs of pepto and 4-6 tums a day as needed.
heartburn and reflux sucks!! good luck

Re: Bad heartburn
A tablespoon of apple cider vinegar mix it with water..drink it sow..it does help..something with adding more acid..because with acid reflux your not making enough acid....I'm sure I have it wrong but it DOES help

Just got my nexium prescription. Zantac wasn't cutting it, and i took nexium last time-- so far it has helped.

Re: Bad heartburn
I swear by Pepcid AC. I still take a few Tums here and there with it but it is much better than chewing them all day!!

Re: Bad heartburn
For me, first I was told to take Zantac. That did not work. Then Pepcid, which did not work and then Tagament OTC 200 mg which isn't working that well but, better than the other two. If this third medication fails, I am going to see a specialist. I think this is because I have acid reflux/GERD prior ro pregnancy but, it's more pronounced now.
