Bad heartburn.....
I have been having VERY bad heartburn these past few weeks and when I take a tums, it does make me feel better but doesn't take it totally away, today was worse then other days.....
Well I just woke up before coughing and I thought I threw up because my throat was scratchy and I had to swallow a lot to clear my throat and it got me worried, I also had a weird taste in my mouth and when I swallow I can still taste it.... I'm so afraid something is wrong, do you think I need to go on something stonger then tums?
I swear if this kid doesn't come out soon, I'm going to loose it!!!

It sounds like just really bad heartburn to me!..Mine is starting to ease up on me ! Feel Better!

Try chewing gum. I had the WORST (actually still do) heartburn and chewing gum non-stop has given me some relief.

I haven't experienced heartburm this bad, but wanted to send you some hugs.
And, see how you are doing this morning? Can you call your DR and ask for something stronger?

Is it possible it's acid reflux? I am been getting that when I sleep and it's so uncomfortable. I think it is from the baby rolling around on my stomach.
Can you ask your doctor about it and maybe he can give you something? Feel better.

Mylanta worked better for me then tums, so I would alternate Mylanta then some tums throughout the day! It is sooo bad for me this last month...its literally non-stop!

Zantac 75 has done wonders for me. Doc said it was fine to take.

Thanks girls I feel better this morning, I took 2 tums after I woke up last night and drank a lot of water so it helped me sleep through the rest of the night. I just hope it doesn't act up again as bad, and I'm not even eating anything to bring it on.....

No cause I wasn't sure if I could take it, but if it gets bad again I'm going to get it! I didn't have heartburn at all today, thankGod!

i know docs have different opinions, so it might be worth asking yours. but when i asked mine about the heartburn she suggested i try mylanta. she said no to zantac, don't know why.

I hear you. I had heartburn with DD but nothing this bad. I find if I eat smaller meals it isn't as bad. I love on tums!

TUMS did nothing for me. I literally have to drink the mylanta throughout the day. It's the only thing that works. I have the cherry flavored and it really dosent taste too bad.

I have had horrible reflux/heartburn my entire life. It gets even worse in pregnancy.
I would suggest taking Tums everyday for prevention. It cannot hurt you and it has calcium.
You can even speak to you Doctor about a type of drug called a PPI. This drug shuts off a lot of the pumps in your stomach that produce acid. You can even buy Prilosec/Omeprazole over the counter. Your Doctor may not want you to take it during pregnancy, it depends on the Doctor. I used to sell these type of drugs when I was in Pharmaceuticals. I took Prilosec while pg with Ava and this time as well. I could not survive without it.
My relux has been soo bad, that I could just be sitting there and my food just comes up...gross

I posted something similar not to long ago - mine was soooo bad I was actually having "wet" burps I LIVED on Tums (max strength.) It went away after a week or 2.
I hope you feel better soon

I have an ulcer coupled with acid reflux/heatburn. I have been on Nexium 40mg for years. Thankfully, my OB said I can stay on it thruout the pregnancy. If things get so bad that Tums or Mylanta doesn't work, inquire about taking Nexium for a short time. I would drink water and it would burn my throat! Not fun!! Feel better soon!!
