Q for those that took Clomid
If you've taken clomid, and developed eggs, did you ovulate on your own? Or did you have to take a trigger shot?
My last RE visit was on CD 10, they just told me to use OPK's . i have been using both cheapies and digitals.
So far I am on CD 12 and on the cheapies they have seemed to be getting lighter then when I went into the RE on CD 10 (and their bloodwork confirmed I was not surging yet) so i'm worried that i won't O! Just wanted to get some experiences.

Re: Q for those that took Clomid
Ive been taking clomid the last 4 cycles. I haven't Oed on my own any of those months. Instead I get a trigger shot to make me O.

Re: Q for those that took Clomid
i took clomid and developed one follicle that they watched with internal sonos, because i dont ovulate on my own, they gave me the trigger shot to make the egg drop on CD 20. i got my bfp that month, which ended in mc, but im doing the same protocol this month. i have an appt on tues with my re to give me provera to bring on AF, then starting clomid CD3-8 Good luck!!!

Yes, i was on Clomid for several cycles and ovulated on my own. Sometimes i was triggered however because they wanted me to O before my body naturally was ready (follies were mature enough and timing was right)

Re: Q for those that took Clomid
i did clomid and none of the follies matured past 12mm. if you only went once and they saw some developing follicles, theres no guarantee that they will mature or that you will ovulate. if i were you i would call and say you want another sono to make sure they are maturing. IMO i would ask for a trigger shot because its a guarantee and makes timed BD a lot easier. without the trigger you can't guarantee ovulation.

Re: Q for those that took Clomid
thanks for your responses all! When I went in on CD 10 they said that they did see eggs there, but made no mention of monitoring me to see they are maturing. I called up the RE and spoke to a nurse, she said that I could go in tomorrow morning, and see how the follicles are developing, so i made an appointment (it will be CD 13 and hoping by that point it is not too late). I will def ask about the trigger shot.. Thanks and good luck to all

Re: Q for those that took Clomid
well, i am out for this month... i went back to the RE this morning, all my eggs were developing well, and they were going to call in a prescription for the trigger shot for me to take.. but then a few hours later i got a call from the doc saying based on my bloodwork, my estrogen levels were too high (i was also taking estrogen tablets to build my lining) and i'm not allowed to try this month because of the multiples risk.. i was very upset after they called me, now I have to tell DH.
But now i am questioning this RE- Had I not made myself an appointment to go in today, then I would have been BDing just as they told me to a few days ago... i just find it odd that I had to ask to be monitored versus the other way around.
oh well... thanks for the advice all!

Re: Q for those that took Clomid
I've had some months where I would have to trigger and other months where I would O on my own.

first off, your estrogen level should be comparable to the number of mature follies that you have. do you know how many you had and what sizes? your RE should have known from the sono, without the bloodwork even, that the cycle was going to need to be cancelled based on the quantity and size of your follies. i mean i would assume your blood e2 (estrogen) would only confirm this, not make the decision for your RE.
i had a cycle cancelled due to too many follies (i had 10+ mature) but i was on injectables. on a good note you respond well to clomid which is great since so many people don't respond to it at all.
i really agree that you should see a new RE. for an OB/gyn its acceptable to not monitor clomid that closely, but for an RE its not. thats what you are paying her for. IMO find another doctor!!
good luck!!

Thanks- from what I heard from the nurses during the sono on CD 10 I had 3 in one ovary, and 1 in the other, and on CD 13 they confirmed "they look good" and "youre ready to go"...and actually ordered me a trigger shot... but then they called me later on after the E2 bloodwork came in and told me not to BD... so i am just really confused. Can anyone recommend another RE, besides RS of NY? That is who i was going to... TIA!!
