moms who had c sections, i have questons even though im a btdt
So i had an extremely crazy c section with dd #1 that has left me tramatized. Obviously not enough where I wouldn't have another baby. I'm not a candidate for a vbac but I'm having terrible horrible anxiety as my dd approaches. I've brought up my concerns to the ob who seems so nonchalant about it and its making my fears even worse. I wish they were able to give me an antianxiety or just completely knock me out. Please tell me of your non tramatizing experiences or anything to help. Or maybe questions I should ask the doc

I was just like you!
I had my 2nd c/s and was terrified. I'm prone to panic attacks, too.
I made my doc promise me up and down that she'd allow them to give me something the minute the baby was out, should I request it.
Your doc was probably so casual about it because, to them, it's nothing - they do it all the time and it's so routine. However, they are not the ones on the table!
If you bear in mind that it's over in like 20 minutes and at least you get something wonderful out of it - it may help. The nurses and others can talk you through it - all u have to do is ask. They have seen it *and heard it* all.

Re: moms who had c sections, i have questons even though im a btdt
I wrote this last month. I am 40 days away and as the weeks get closer, I am becoming more anxious. With dd#1 my water broke and by the 18th hr we were doing a csection and she was already 6cm. There was no time to think about anything. I cant imagine electively walking in and doing this. From what I hear, everyone has had perfect experiences the 2nd time around. In fact, they healed faster the second time around. Theres just too much time for thinking this time. How many weeks are you away? I also agree that the drs do this ALL the time. They dont see it as a huge deal.

Thanks so much ladies. I'm 7 weeks away, with my first the surgery was well over an hour I passed out, had a post partum hemorrhage and was completely unconscious after the baby was out. My dh was escorted out of the or and we both thought I was dead. dh was signing consent forms for more surgery if needed It was extremely tramatizing. There's more but i wont go all into it. I think I would make them promise to give me something after she's out. To ease the stress and anxiety

I didn't have a traumatizing csection experience, but I have had traumatizing general surgery before my csection with DS#1. I coded while they were trying to bring me out from genreal anesthesia. So when c/s became an option with Ds#1 I was SOOOOOOOOO anxious. Even now that I know I'm going for a repeat c/s I'm nervous. I keep wondering if something will go wrong.
I informed my doc and he took all steps to make sure that the anethesia dept at Stony Brook knew my situation. He also ensured that I speak with the anesthsiologist personally. Even while they were doing the cs the anesthisiologist asked me that if I felt anxious they could give me something to ease the anxiety...which I asked for and it helped.
I'm sorry your doc is being so non-chalant about it. Try to talk to him again and let him know you are really anxious and see what plan you can both come up with.

I've had an emergencey c/s section and a scheduled one, and will have another scheduled one next year.
I promise the scheduled one is totally different than in an emergency situation.
It's definately stressful in the moments leading up to it, but recovery is def easier.
Any specific questions feel free to ask

My first c-section was AWFUL. The second one was a serious breeze. The worst part was the gas which I got over at day 3. And I had a cough when I delivered which was bad, and I took cough medicine religiously every 4 hours, but I never took pain meds...just Tylenol every now and again! The first one was another story!

Re: moms who had c sections, i have questons even though im a btdt
I had 2 scheduled c/s. But like you my second made me so much more scared than #1. With #1 I scheduled 2 days before so I didnt have time to really think about it. AWith #2 I had 40 weeks to think about it! And even though #1 c/s was a great experience I was so scared.
Let me tell you #2 c/s was even better. It went so smoothly even though I was delayed for 5 h ours.
Dont worry is all I can say. GL!!
eta: a scheduled c/s is much different than your first experience. Everything is generally so much calmer. I went in to the L&D both times and just relaxed, watched TV, DH went and got coffee, I chatted with the nurses. There really was nothing tramatic about it at all! If you want any specifics please let me know and I can give more info.

Sometimes the calmness of the planned c/s can be more anxiety producing than the urgency of an emergency c/s.
Wanna know a secret? They usually give you a light dose of valium before they start everything. It helps a ton. If they don't offer it, request it. You'll be fine.

Re: moms who had c sections, i have questons even though im a btdt
You may remember my crazy c-section and all the complications is caused, I was also not a good candidate for a vbac and was scared to death to have my 2nd c-section, my OB and his midwife knew my concerns, 1st one almost killed me and I was scared for my 2nd one. When last Thursday I got to the hospital and they took my blood pressure and it was through the roof because I had so much anxiety, i was near tears by the time they wheeled me into the OR, BP still sky high. This time I got to see him in recovery and they made sure to give me allergy meds for the anesthesia since I seem to have a bad itching reaction to the narcotic anesthesia they gave me. I ended up staying another day because surprise, surprise, i got another infection and had a fever and high blood pressure, they have me on strong antibiotics and they seems to have caught it early but the c-section went well and my OB talked me through everything and really made me feel better, partly probably because of my last c-section.
Talk to your OB about your concerns with the c-section and see what he says, that did make me feel better and he made me feel better during the c-section, he knew I was having some anxiety over it. FM me if you need to talk!

I had a c section too with my first. But i went into labor naturally and pushed but my dd wasnt coming out so they called it a c section at that point i just wanted it to be over so didnt have time to think about anything. With this baby i am opting for a c and i am already anxious thinking about actually walking into the surgery. But stay positive stay strong and in the end you will be holding your baby and everything will be fine
