Update on Max
Just a quick update about my amazing boy, Max. He will be 6 weeks old tomorrow and is just over 3.5 lbs now. The amount of progress he has made is just remarkable. He is now off of the ventiliator and breathing like a champ with just a nasal cannula. Because he was so premature (26w3d), he does experience apnea and his heart rates drops, but it is getting better and he usually recovers quickly on his own without the nurse having to do anything. His intestines have healed after the surgery he had at 6 days old and feedings have been going great-- I've been pumping like crazy to keep up with him! The nurses are starting to talk to us about him coming home and some of the anxiety and fear has subsided. We still have some rough days, but it is getting better and closer to the day we can finally take our baby home
