had my first internal...
and it was NOT a pleasent experience!
I am only a fingertip dilated at 39 1/2 weeks! he also tried to stimulate my cervix to get the process going, but it was SOOOO PAINFUL (I was literally in tears) he stopped.
Makes me re-think my decision on not having an epidural if the internal hurt that much, can't imagine the baby coming out.
Just feeling miserable, swollen, and with no signs of labor in sight, i'm getting very frustrated, and this heat is NOT helping either!
At the end of the appt, he said if the baby doesn't come by Tuesday 7/26, we will scedule an induction! So I guess i'll be going past my due date!
PLEASE send me some progress & labor vibes cuz I really dont want to be induced!

I had my first internal today too...but I am only 37 weeks. I was not dialated at all. Even with my first pregnancy I was never dialated. My water broke a week before my due date and when I got to the hospital I was not dialated. Hopefully your little  will make an appearance before your next appointment!

I have had 2 internals so far. I dont have any progress either. I agree it really hurt. The 2nd one hurt worse b/c I think it took a little longer. I am still sore from it! Good luck!

Dont be too nervous. It hurt but I just clenched my fists together when he did it. I didnt cry out in pain or anything and I do NOT tolerate pain very well. I am still sore but its not unbearable or anything, just sore. Good luck!

I haven't had an internal yet, I'm 39 1/2 weeks too...I'm scared...I have my appt this afternoon.
not looking forward to this; you would think in this heat we would go faster...the baby just wants to stay inside there

I need some too! I had 2 internals so far and no progress - I'm 38 1/2 weeks prego and going for a vbac, so they can't/won't induce me. I didn't think the internals hurt, just not comfortable - and I wasn't sore afterwards. Then again he wasn't trying to do any inducing...

I will be 39 weeks in 2 day! No progress for me either! Nada! I do not want a C section either. Good luck everyone!

I had my 3rd internal today at 41 weeks, this one hurt a littl emore than the other cause he was trying to get the ball rolling. I have never bled after but I am bleeding from this one so hopefully it did the trick.
Hang in there girl it's frustrating but you still have time. I have to be induced Tuesday the 26th if she doesn't come wah wah

You can't really make a decision about an epidural without knowing how much it hurts....which is a lot.
My internals were all like pap smears. They did not hurt if I relaxed.

On Tuesday i had my first internal 36wks 3days. It didnt hurt at all. And no progress here yet either. On Sat im 37weeks & on Tues i go for my 2nd internal. WE SHALL SEE.

For me it was to verify the position of the baby - since I'm going for a vbac - but I agree, from what i've read, it really doesn't matter.
